Literal x factor
Teams really should partner with collegiate/small t2 teams for academy teams.
Better scrims, better matches, better teams.

you know that well XD (its a thing in jap/kr and ik Arf, Dsyre and OXEN have one too, maybe it will become popular at some point)
I know that reaal well lmao
I think academy teams are formed in japan because currently valorant is gaining steam in japan, so I don't expect this academy frenzy will stay for long but I'll enjoy them while I can.
No members yet, they just announced they're looking for a coach build the academy. They opened application basically
same purpose though, get a team for cheap that cant/wont compete to run scrims/strats (like eg did 2023 with the reserve roster)
a t2 team will want to run its own strats for ascension. academy teams can run run set strats the t1 team is facing
when they arent prepping for ascension or something idk im sure these teams could work it out
as soon as ascension ends 90% of tier 2 teams disband, and otherwise they are prepping ascension
I would think of that more like an extra benefit. I believe the real purpose of an academy team is exactly what it sounds like, be an academy. Not just because but to try and find the next Sayonara, the next Larok, the next Comeback, the next Loita, the next Woot etc
That is what truly will make an academy worth it, (most likely it will not be which is why many teams won't have one).
An affiliate team is more to have a quality 6th man just in case and have certain small level of control over some players but it's different
At least this is how I think of it, I suppose I'm not inside the orgs, so it's speculation
