GC is for women AND marginalized genders btw. Not exclusive to women.

have there been any cases of trans men being barred entry?

just as we didn't know about meL being declined spots on rosters outside of GC until way later, it's hard to get any definitive proof of a player being barred/declined by a league or team, including transmasc individuals. However, I find it curious that I have never seen / heard of a transmasc individual participating in these events. Would be good to get clarification from either a ruleset or Riot themselves on this topic. while I don't agree with people barring nonbinary individuals from participating in these events, it would make no sense to me to let nonbinary individuals into these events if transmasc individuals are not allowed. if it is for marginalized groups, it should be all of them.

they probably don't, it's just really hard to find transmacs in these spaces in general.

also the meL thing has been known for a while now, she was gc's poster girl == really good rep for c9 so her price tag was obv way too hefty. her "being rejected cause she's a girl" was way too overplayed (slasher L), prolly just a random comment by some player.

number of transmasc compared to transfem in general population is increasing to close to equal according to a research paper from the national library of science. i see no transmasc but tons of transfem. correlation does not equal causation, but would be something to look into.

meL thing was known for a while now sure, and her not JOINING a team might've been due to cost. but the entire post was about her being declined TRYOUTS because she is a female, which is the entire issue. it was not overplayed, it was a factual statement backed up by multiple players in the scene.

  • "in these spaces"
if someone pulls that correlation != causation intro to stats line on me one more time in a debate over the internet i will actually bash my skull in

  • it was a comment made by 1 player. slasher was just waffling. if she was as good as the .1% (not saying she wasn't good, she had insane potential back then and even now) back in the early days, orgs would have literally rushed to BUILD teams around her. the rep of having a female player in t1 would be enough to garner everybody's attention.

  • "in these spaces"

I don't see why transmasc wouldn't be just as interested in gaming as transfem, especially considering aab female and aab male gaming % are both getting close to equal

I didn't even read slasher post, I read posts by other players validating the original post. either way, meL getting declined from any team for being female isn't even the main point of my original post therefore it's completely irrelevant. it was just showing that word about players being declined from playing on teams doesn't get spread very often if at all.

aab females tend way less towards fps titles than aab males (partly due to online toxicity) + i'd imagine they just don't want to be in spaces where they feel less accepted in general. Riot's ambiguous ruling on gc doesn't help either.

fair. I didn't keep in mind that to be transmasc you'd have to be aab female and they already trend less towards FPS titles. hopefully Riot clears up the rulings so transmasc players can play. thank you for the fun discussion ^_^
also sorry for using correlation != causation LOL

it's a valid line tbh, just rendered meaningless by the internet

i have no clue. i just remember someone talking about where trans men want to be seen as men and riot listened so they can't join gc as they technically aren't marginalized. this could obviously be fake tho

no reason to think they wouldn't

Anjja played in G2 Gozen fo quite some time. I think she (or him??) was a trans man, but I'm not 100% sure.

annja according to twitter uses pronouns she/her. to my knowledge, she is transfem. I could be wrong, if anyone has a correction I'd appreciate it

I don't think annja is trans. I don't have a source, but there was a discussion around Berlin when people thought she was trans, and she had to comeout and say she wasn't. I don't have a source, just a recollection.

would be great to see a source if possible, but thanks for the potential info!

This was the best I could find. It's a Forbes article where they use the word "all-female." It's worth noting that we don't use the word female for trans-women, as it refers to your sex, not your gender expression.

Trans men are also marginalized, there just happens to be less of them. I’m sure some have tried and failed rather than being stopped

someone a while back was saying how trans men wanted to be seen as men so to riot, they technically aren't marginalized. obviously this could just just be fake tho

It's probably because of that (trans men not wanting to be seen as not men), rather than riot not allowing them
