tiktok is banned in India the Indians you might be seeing speaking english on TikTok can be NRI (Non-residential Indians) so I can't say anything about them.

for me personally I don't fake my accent like and I don't have that stereotypical Indian accent too.

basically the indian accent is a big stereotype , most of the people dont speak like that
even if you see someone , they are mostly from the southern part
but generally indians do not have that accent

I don't think anyone from our generation speaks like that.
The old people did used to speak like that rarely and why he mentioned south because a majority of Indians who migrated belonged to southern India.

So I guess India has many accents.
But the one portrayed to most of the world is the hyper-over the top version of one of the accents.
The media do this with so many countries it's annoying

true, same for how they potray india looks like lmao
but yes only boomer 50+ south indians speak like that and are the ones who migrated the most
other than that indians have a really generic accent which doesnt sound goofy like the stereotypic one

There is no general Indian accent but I heard there's like 20 different official languages so people who learn English from a different language may have the accent of that language I have a lot of Indian friends and they talk just fine

Honestly, Singaporean kids can do a better 'stereotypical Indian accent' impersonation than most people I've met in my life here

If you find indians with american accents they either dont live here or are just way too good with accents, its very rare to find people with the stereotypical accent, ive lived here for all the 18 years of my life and dont remember a single time ive heard "the indian accent" come out of an indian. Seen more americans and SEA kids sound like that more than indians kekw

Its the truth, I never had a teacher who had an accent which I couldn't comprehend, you just got unlucky or just aren't used to english or just choose to hate.

The accent is some kind of GENERATION GAP thing, you will hardly find it on new generation or Indians living abroad
