Masters format (probably)

Last time it was the same format as SEA, this time probably aswell. 16 teams, 4x4 groupd,single round robin, top 2 advance. After that normal double elim 8 team bracket like in NA.
Seeds(my guess)
1(1st EMEA, 2nd EMEA, 1st NA, 2nd NA)
2(3rd EMEA, 4th EMEA, 3rd NA, 1st KR)
3(2nd KR, 1st BR, 2nd BR, 1st SEA)
4(2nd SEA, 1st JP, 2nd JP, 1st LATAM)
Also probably first 6 days with 4 group games to finish groups. (24 games)
Day 7 for quarter finals (4 games)
Day 8 semis and lower round 1 (4 games)
Day 9 lower round 2 and upper finals (3 games)
Day 10 lower round 3 and lower finals (2 games)
Day 11 grand finals.

What do you guy think? Does this seem right?, might aswell be a single elim bracket but i dont hope so since its still a qualifier and not a major.
Also how would u do the seeding?

Riot will probably adjust the points so that there is seperate points for 3rd-8th. My guess why its 3rd-4th and 5th-8th is that they werent sure if they will have enough time for the double elim bracket

I think they could also have something similar to the Stage 2 EMEA playoffs bracket
4 groups of 4 teams
Each group is a double elim bracket and the top two teams from each advance (which means each team plays at least 2 games and possibly 3 if you are in the lower bracket qualifying game)
and then for the top eight either a double elim or single elim bracket like you said
But yea this format you came up with is very solid, hopefully Riot does something like this

Tbh i hpe they dont do that. Its called GSL btw. Imo it just opens more space for upsets wich might be fun to watch but its still a big competition and people are trying to qualify for champions and like i said a round robin would fit perfectly aswell. A suisse format would be cool aswell since evrytime gets atleast 3 games to play but i think its not enough days

What do you mena by that?
One round robin group has 6 games, times 4 is 24 games. That would be 4 games a day for 6 days wich is very possible. Every team would play every second day and teams would at least play 3 games and stay in the event for at least 6 days

it isn't practical to fit 4 Bo3s a day I think it would take 10-12 hrs counting system loss and breaks. They'll have to do 2 games simultaneously altho that would mean less viewership on less popular teams. how many games were held per day in Iceland?

Im pretty sure they wont do 2 at the same time. But a match might be a Bo2 aswell. Maybe its gonna be a GSL. We dont know for sure. But they will def have enough staff and talent to even make a 12 hours day im sure

That wouldnt change the fact that pöayoffs are Bo3 tho, u made a good point here. It looks like we might aswell get a GSL format

Thats not groups, its seeding. Groups would be random but not in the same group as the same region obv

not in the time they have to do it. they want to have all matches broadcasted on one channel, only way that is possible with bo3 is gsl

They can start at 10 am tho, many games will gl to 2 maps only since groups probably not that balanced. It would probably end at like 8-12 pm

I think Riot will definitely use the SEA Challengers 3 Finals format. 1 region per group, and each group has 3 bo2 games.
I think the seeding might be different though since your seeding would make the grand-finals match pointless for EMEA and NA. Also, the SEA format has the champion of each sub-region getting the first seed. I would assume Seed 1 would have 1 NA, EMEA, BR, and KR.

Another seed 1 allocation could be 2 NA, 1 EMEA, and 1 KR, since NUTURN did make top 3 at Iceland.

I dont see the first place argument tho, BR doesnt deserve a seed 1. Korea debatable.
And why would my seeding make the grand finals match pointless? I dont get it lol

Since you place NA1/2 and EMEA1/2 in the same pool (seed 1), wouldn't that make the challenger's finals of their respective region pointless? Winning or losing the regional finals has zero benefits/drawbacks. When I said grand-finals I was talking about the regional finals, not the Berlin finals. Maybe that's where the misunderstanding comes from.

The second option I had makes NA challenger's finals pointless, but it rewards NA for winning Masters 2, and NUTURN for placing third.

I see, i mean NA and EMEA dont seem to care about seeding that much. But teams actually care about winning challengers finals. They wont reveal the seeding anyways before finals so it doesnt really matter. Also its about making it as fair as possible and giving good teams an advantage. If u have seed 1 as the first or second doesnt matter because u are expected to make it thru groups anyways

Yea I guess getting first seed would be more beneficial if it was GSL where Seed 1 would face Seed 4 for the first match.

I dont think that matters to much its.much rather who is in your group as a whole. NA and EMEA shouldnt be bothered by SEA brazil Jp and Latam anyways

Then top 4 from each group go to playoffs with either single eli or double eli

I like 4x4 round robin but I would make it so 3rd place in each group would start in lowers rather than be eliminated off the bat.
