Explain why Anime is not for children without using the “there is blood”

Most animes I saw to this day were very childish (Dragon Ball Z,My Hero Academia etc)

As someone who hasn’t properly watched anime and who will probably not watch any anime

I want someone to try changing my opinion

DragonBall Z and My hero academia are shonen which means their target demographic is kids. Not every anime is a shonen

This is what dumb people said about gaming 20 years ago, it is now socially acceptable to be an adult gamer. You might just be a current day sheep 🤷‍♂️

Why can't you compare them? I mean come on think about it, animation is just drawings with motion. Why can't an adult watch it? Any argument you try to make is just going to be some arbitrary bullshit you heard from your parents or any other cultural influence that formed your belief system today. There's no logical reasoning you can use tbh

You not really can put all anime in same category, there is definitely anime for child shounen or something, there is also anime with big bouncy booba.

??? shit take alert
Goblin slayer, (the first few episodes of) Shield Hero, Cowboy Bebop, A Silent Voice, etc
Just because its a cartoon doesnt mean its for kids. Think Invincible, for example. Even then, most of Invincibles (and Goblin Slayers) non-child factor comes from the gore, which isnt necessarily the only way to make a show not for kids. The early parts of Shield Hero deal with betrayal and false rape accusations. Cowboy Bebop deals with a lot of the characters feelings when theyre not leading up to or doing a fight scene, and is pretty adult with the concepts in portrays with drugs, morality, etc. And as much as i advocate that Your Name is better than A Silent Voice, A Silent Voice is much more adult in its themes. Attempted suicides, redemption, "earning" forgiveness, forgiving yourself, etc.

Of course if you just watch shonen anime youre just going to get stuff for younger people. Its supposed to be exciting, not deep. That doesnt mean you cant enjoy it, though. Plenty of other people prove that. One Piece, Dragonball, etc are so loved because theyre good enough to stay popular with their original fanbase and theyre able to pick up new fans. These shows are supposed to be fun, exciting, or whatever you want. If you think you cant enjoy a show because its exciting and "made for kids", you're still a child LARPing as an adult.

Anime is a medium for storytelling just like Tv shows or movies, and just like those there different genres for anime. Besides, as it is animated, they have more freedom to imagine stories that in conventional media would not work. Stories like Pyscho pass, Parasyte and many more are not made for kids.

Anime was made for kids. It's a fact.
But while it is made for kids, it doesn't mean adult can't enjoy it.
And nowadays adult enjoy anime more than a kid.

Fate/Zero

i mean it's legit just like a tv show but instead of real people, it's people drawing each frame and animating it
just like tv shows, there are different genres, ranging from shounen to psychological horror
to me, it seems like your mindset is still stuck on the fact that anime = children solely on the fact that you either haven't broadened ur horizons or think that drawings = kid, which might've been true like 20 years ago, but nowadays why should u still think that?

Anime is a type of media. Each media has a different target audience, a different genre, and different concepts.

Some prime examples of Western media are Family Guy and South Park: these two shows have hella adult concepts despite looking like cartoons.

Just like Family Guy and South Park, there is a lot of anime with adult concepts. For example, Banana Fish. This anime has semblances of homosexuality, class division, and child exploitation.

Let's just collectively stop changing this guy's opinion. His closed mindedness is missing out on a lot of good storytelling.
