He may not consider himself indian due to his parents being from Tanzania. Many Tanzanians who were originally from india don’t consider themselves Indian. But he cannot deny that both his first and last name are of Indian origin. Either way he is Indian to me :)

It's not that big of a deal. It is human nature to assume and his name and appearance could give a strong indication that he is atleast of Indian descent.
I was an orphan brought up in an Asian family which is why I have a lot of appreciation of Asian culture more so than the stereotypical white British culture people think we have in England.
To make a long story short, yes it's annoying to answer these ethnic related questions but it just comes with popularity and fame.
