this is a list of how well each seed did in groups
1 seed: 100t got their groups first seed. both kc and ge went out as 3rd seed. tyl obviously got 4th. (average group placement of 2.75, w/o cn is 2.33...)
2 seed: loud and ns got their groups 2nd seed. tl got their groups 3rd seed. jdg got 4th. (average group placement of 2.75, w/o cn is 2.33...)
3 seed: nrg and prx got first in their group. fut got 3rd. edg got 4th. (average group placement of 2.25, w/o cn is 1.25)
4 seed: vit got first seed. t1 and g2 got 2nd seed. xlg got 4th. (average group placement of 2.25, w.o cn is 1.25)
all in all stage 2 merchants got an average placement of 2.75 and the consistently good teams got an average placement of 2.25 (pts teams were better than s2 teams)
the teams on pts did better than the 1/2 seeds. you can draw your own conclusions from this, but mine is that pts is a good system that rewards actually good teams rather than teams showing up well once, and that even doing well in one event does not necessarily correlate to the international tied to it. HOWEVER in pacific both ge and ns were already likely to go based off pts, which skews their data slightly but keeps the other data the same.
i also decided to do some digging for the other pts years.
2025, same setup with 2+2
1 seed: avg 2.5
2 seed: avg 2.5
3 seed: avg 3
4 seed: avg 2
this gives a high score for 4 seeds but stage 2 vs pts is equal at 2.5 (s2 and pts were equal)
2024, different setup with a 3+1
1 seed: avg 2.25
2 seed: avg 2.25
3 seed (again this is 3rd seed in stage 2 and not pts #1): avg 2
4 seed (this one is pts #1): avg 3.5 (they were in the thick of it icl. however these teams really were the 4th best teams in the region based on pts (unlike the nrg+prx situations this year) as most of the good/consistent teams got top 3 in stage 2 (sen was 3rd in pts, fut was 1st somehow, and both tln (rip) and blg were 4th in pts)
avg palcements for stage 2 was 1.625 and pts was 3.5 (s2 was miles better than pts, tho they had 3 slots)

all in all this year gives us a good idea of how good the pts system is, last year makes it look fair and 2024 makes it look bad (which is likely why they changed it from 1 to 2 pts teams)

NRG only started playing good in 2025 from stage 2 group stage game 3 onwards. They won champs as #2.

i lowk forgot to account for, yk, winning. however my main point was just about groups and how pts is a good system they have that benefits teams and events more
