Hoping there’s a flashback somewhere where Gol D Roger actually asks Garp to keep serving as a Marine until the right time or sth like that, cuz rn he’s def on the hatelist

The most accepted theory is that he was the one behind S.W.O.R.D. all the time, cause it was done based on his reputation and how he had authonomy inside the WG
He hates nobles and he always acted on his own, the marine (institution) is not too much fond of him even tho the individuals serving under it love him, but they keep him around because they use his image as "Hero of the Marines" to get more people joining their ranks cause this image was made up by them to cover up for the god valley incident where the holy bums couldn't stop the rocks pirates so they changed the narrative to make garp take credit for what he accomplished with roger against xebec
