The nonchalance problem

There is a nonchalant player/IGL problem. Look at teams like Sen and MIBR this year, a group of naturally quieter players trying to force themselves into being vibes guys. Teams NEED authentic energy and hype, thats what creates confidence, and confidence is like 50% of the game.

Listen to Zellsis' comms on 2024 Sen, or LEV's comms, or 2024 EDG's comms. There's a night and day difference between forced hype and real hype. Stop making teams full of nonchalant players

I cant believe MIBR allowed Aspas to recruit 4 other nonchalant players. You cant point to a single guy on MIBR and say "he's the one to give a speech that will revive the teams confidence"

coaches can serve this role. being so good and well-practiced and in-sync with each other that this feeling of ''we will turn everything around'' comes naturally and doesn't even require hype

In a perfect scenario sure, but these players are humans beings, and young human beings at that. They often need a confident voice to get the train back on the tracks

just an example from another esport, team spirit in dota. their 2021 run at that. They are all rookie except for miposhka, who is their captain. They went on a miracle lower bracket run to make ti finals. won map 1 and 2. lost maps 3 and 4. they are up against the best team of 2021 in lgd. they have 4 TI rookies. One of them speaks up and brings in theory. he didn't scream, he didn't vibe for map 5. He just spoke about the vetoes and convinced his team to gather behind him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XufQxK0YsE
TORONTOTOKYO didn't force the ''HYPE'' speech. He made them think. the coach picked up and extended the thought. the captain said the logic works. This moment was possible because they were the hardest working team that year and were willing to do anything to win. Not to sound rude to the managers or people behind the lineups, but when you watch some vct games, even I as an outside notice the micromistakes. not clearing corners, no trading, no anything. Confidence cannot come from a shout when you can't even do small things right. It is as if it's overlooked.

I understand your point but thats just 1 example. A lot of teams benefit from having a "Zellsis" that injects the team with confidence and direction. Obviously you want both

But then before that you write that most players try to force hype. Zellsis and other guys like him are few and far between. it is not possible for all teams to have a zellsis. And this problem won't resolve itself because zellsis is a different generation. his youth was grinding tier 2-3 NA LANs in CS. to him hype is natural. To someone who got via ranked and online events - it is not. That's why I vouch for preparation to replace it. I refuse to believe these teams can be saved by hype when they can't do basic shit like clear a corner. If you actually grind and fix every issue you have, when almost every micro decision is perfect, you will not need a hype man. You know the work you did. You know you won't be caught out by bullshit.
My point is basically that because most of the newer guys got into tier 1 through online quals and ranked, them actually grinding every single micro-issue to a near-perfect state would give infinitely more confidence than fake hype because it fits them more.

No it for sure applies to Sen, Cortez was the only guy with energy on the team, and even that was clearly forced at times. Listen to how Zellsis spoke on 2024 Sen, current Sen is nothing like that. There is no replacement for raw authentic energy

Nonchalance in general is a problem the entire region of NA faces at all levels of play. Pretty normal to see ranked becoming a whole cares less contest

'' Teams NEED authentic energy and hype'' Authentic energy - yes, hype - not neccessary. A team of 5 quiet guys can work if they are all reserved and just act naturally and don't try to force a gimmick. Confidence can come from hype, but it can also come from just being who you are and not trying to play a role. Most young athletes in any sport TRY to force being someone they are not.

yep, energy matters way more AND faith i suppose if u have enough faith in ur team its way easier to come back from a bad half (23, 25 FNC)
