one thing that sucks abt champs

is that teams that or out of form are still guaranteed a champs qualification via points (i.e. g2 and edg who lost in playins)
over teams that have genuine potential to do something
like i genuinely think that LOUD would do better than g2 at an international rn

g2 either wins it all or bombs out 16th so i want to see which result happens

Son FNC lost in group stage last year in stage 2 and they came 2nd in champs

MIBR perfect example on why that is a good thing

Only PRX and EDG are confirmed
theres a chance G2 will miss champs if they bomb out against M80

So we gonna ignore the teams who performed well whole year and only qualify teams who are good now??

Were EDG trying new stuff or They were just shit coz I don’t see the point in wasting time when they’re alr qualified. Ik placements matter but edg doesn’t care about it. Might be the same about G2

i think that's kind of the point of champs points. to reward consistent performance throughout the year. the cool thing about it is teams who are "out of form" sometimes end up doing surprisingly well. nobody thought mibr was shit before champs last year and they looked better than many teams that people thought were better. they came the closest to beating NRG, who ended up undefeated.

champs is the peak of the year and the culmination of each stage and masters. it shouldn't be treated like any other qualification tournament.

why champions points are good : masters winners are almost guranteed. you dont wanna watch champs without nongshim do you?(personally i NEED them to be at the champs stage. they won santiago after all.)

4/6 teams that made top 6 at champs paris were teams that qualified by points and were “out of form” including our flair

DRX - came 5/6 at stage 2, top 3 in champs
FNC - came 5/6 at stage 2, top 2 in champs
MIBR - bombed out in groups, top 6 in champs with close games against DRX and the champs winners
