idk about other cultures but in france that definitely doesn't count as black at all
im pretty sure its more of a reference to "african-americans" rather than actual africans
im not trying to be racist but i would assume that black would be a colloquial term that only works in america for african-americans(someone please educate me if i am wrong)
Black doesn’t mean African American, the term has been used more specifically because it’s more inclusive of Black people that aren’t African American. Someone from Jamaica who is Black for example is not African American, they aren’t from Africa. Similarly, a Moroccan is African American but not Black.
in france it's a very common word, not as familiar as you seem to describe it in the US. It's just a common way to designate anyone who comes from ~sub-saharian africa (wether they were directly born here or they have spent 5 generations outside of africa) and whose skin tone is considered black. We use "noir" (literally black in french) and "renoi" (the inverse) but when we say literally "black" (the english word) it generally seen as a word used by older generations who are somewhat unconciously racist (and sometimes perfectly consciously ofc but not necessarily), but all these terms refer to the same thing

Idk why yall keep calling Moroccan people black like you can just look at them and see they’re obviously much closer to Arabs than Black people (because they are majority Arab and Berber)
I'm asking that because yes, they are more Arab. That includes Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, etc.
