Seeing the new guidelines of VCT 2027, i was wondering whether the same was done when CS was flourishing, would the scene be saved ?

macncheese [#2]what r u talking about, cs never died and is still bigger than val
Bro it was the reason why many cs pros transitioned to valorant cuz of the tier 2 scene wasnt grt to begin with.

tier 2 cs scene is extremely alive rn.

CS T2 is doing miles better than Val T2

Most of them were from NA bro, eu in cs is bigger

Only NA cs moved to val
bodyshot_bunty [#3]cs never died and still pull more views than Valorant
ur point?
he probably saw the NA scene but the real scene is EU lol
macncheese [#2]what r u talking about, cs never died and is still bigger than val
Cs bigger because of 🤖
Morikoe [#10]he probably saw the NA scene but the real scene is EU lol
yeah its true for NA scene but the tier2 CS is in the best state ever
in EU,SA,and even Asia too there are regular tournaments and tough competition, orgs are investing in academy teams
Only negative is that there's still too much matchfixing going on in tier2 tier3
CS t2 is very open at least in EU where maximum of the CS teams reside
I keeps seeing people say CS scene gets more viewers when objectively valorant is more popular right now. At least the esports scene due to its popularity in Asia.
Of course there is nothing it probably can do to make it more alive or popular than valo it’s been out for 25 years and is held by skin market

valolrant doesn't get more viewers lol. why are you lying?
ihateverythinggg [#16]valolrant doesn't get more viewers lol. why are you lying?
No, I am pretty sure it gets significantly more viewer due to it being popular in Asian countries. I would have thought people would be more aware of how many viewers China gets. Again I could be wrong but I would be shocked
nah but I genuinely hope korea and asia as a whole can get more involved in cs again

Like I do get your point, like champions Seoul got 9 million peak viewers, but over 80% of those views came from China and in Paris the year after we peaked at 1.4 mil. Currently CS viewership is (on average) higher, and the scene is much more developed.

I think OP is having a national bias here... since CS esports is dead in India he might have not heard anything about T2 from CS.

no you are wrong, CS does indeed get more viewers than val, if you want proof, look at 2025 twitch data, 372 million hours of CS watched compared to 185 million hours of val watched and CS majors have higher peaks than val finals, regardless val is still a top esport but CS is more popular
wrong to say "can CS be saved", it averages more views than val esports

Any trustable source of that 9million views?

I specfically mentioned Valorant gets signficiantly more viewers due to China. Its funny though seeing confirmation bias in work

yes but China isn't the only country in the world lol

Why are CS bums always so dishonest with their "statistics". Hours watched doesn't mean anything because CS has a LOT more airtime than Valorant with multiple international tournaments a year and a lot of more regular season play. If you compare something like Budapest Major 2025 with VCT Champions 2025 then their average viewers and peak viewers are very close, with CS being very slightly ahead. And it's without question that Valorant is more popular in China, whose statisitcs aren't accounted for in tracking websites. So you can easily say that Valorant is more popular on a global scale.
ballsinyojaws [#25]yes but China isn't the only country in the world lol
china dont watch on twitch/youtube so the numbers you see on twitch and stuff isn't reliable for comparison, I still think cs is bigger but its a lot closer than you'd think. Chinese valo players are basically considered mainstream celebrities in China from what I've heard, so think like up there with the big actors or musicians in the US.

lol I'm not a "CS bum", literally a val player but yall are right, globally it is bigger but that doesn't mean CS scene is dead
