Clarification on the current APAC scene

First off I want to state two things:

  1. It is suspicious that certain Korean players have had their headsets on improperly, and if they are actually cheating using this method they should be punished.
  2. It may be true that at least one Korean team is receiving preferential treatment, and if so they should be punished.

I’m not trying to defend anyone here but I want to set the narrative straight and also offer context and things to think about.

We all know Jemkin exposed T1 and Nongshim for receiving preferential treatment, but everyone seems to have forgotten he exposed PRX for this treatment too.
If VCT Pacific was truly biased towards Koreans, why would they give PRX preferential treatment when nobody on their team or org is Korean?
Additionally, Nongshim’s coach Sungmin clarified on Twitter that they weren’t even given preferential treatment and Jemkin simply didn’t know what was going on.

FrosT claims that the draw was rigged, and maybe it was rigged, but for Koreans? There are like 3 or 4 Korean teams that got fucked over because of this draw. There’s only one team who seems to have gotten a good draw, and that’s T1.
So how is this rigged in favour of Koreans?

As for the headset issues, it’s clear that Lakia and Sylvan are possibly two of many players to wear their headsets improperly, and they should be investigated and Riot should do something to enforce proper soundproofing. They should also make sure that all random draws are certifiably random, either by drawing lots instead of balls, having players or coaches pick random balls, or whatever.

As for Koreans and cheating, if the Korean teams really were as fraudulent and reliant on rigging to succeed as some people are claiming, how come they have the best international performances in the region? Surely the GEN.G and T1 players didn’t receive preferential treatment at Madrid, Shanghai, or Bangkok. Nor could they have shared scrims at those events either.
And surely SPG didn’t receive preferential treatment at Jakarta, nor did NS and SLT at Ascension 2025.

It’s important to note that Korea has actually won more international trophies than VCT Pacific trophies.

This shit has gotten completely warped in favour of some weird narrative that people want to push to confirm their own biases. I want to restate that there is a high possibility of preferential treatment and cheating, and if so those parties should be punished. But don’t leave out important context for the sake of fueling your own personal narrative.

little bit off topic but are you counting kickoff 2024 and 2025 as pacific trophies?

Ascension 24, Ascension 25, Shanghai, Bangkok

Kickoff 24, Stage 2 24, Kickoff 25

There is no real Kickoff winner in 2026 in my opinion, because they just qualify to Santiago and don’t face each other.

yup, during any drama people become selective and focus only on the points helping their narrative, jemkin was tilted after 3 back to back bo5 losses so he just ranted about this stuff, some of it could be a bit exaggerated due to frustration but there must be instances of it happening. NS already clarified that they were not late, T1 vaping is not that big of an issue (if true) but riot needs to ensure uniformity of rules being enforced. PRX forgetting to lock veto is again not too big of a deal (unless there is more to it that we don't know) as without agent select the game returns back to the lobby.

The only severe issue, which jemkin stated that the korean casters were too loud and frost showed that players can take advantage of it, should be investigated with utmost priority.

Regarding draws being rigged, it could be true, and should not be done; but i don't think even if it is done, it is to give advantages rather it feels like draws could be rigged just for viewership.

actually the smoking thing is pretty big because it is illegal to smoke in the bathroom in Korea, so Jemkin actually should have reported this to legal authorities instead of spilling the beans on broadcast LMFAO

didn't know that, but even then it doesn't affect the game (unless smoking gives you increased concentration or something)

no clue, it’s also (unrelated) kinda weird that you can’t smoke in a bo3 but can in a bo5, maybe time constraints? idk

Well i post couple times about this matter.
I think this is not cheating fully from my point of view.
More like dev bias to certain teams that popular especially korea team and maybe prx.
After all only korea team and prx that succesfully win master trophy in pacific region.
I think riot can still fixed this problem in future.
Aside from this controversy i think the teams that qualify to Santiago is strong team.

yeah i think if anything it’s a bias to strong teams or popular teams. GEN.G, DRX, NS, VARREL haven’t appeared to have received preferential treatment - the only teams suspected of it are T1 and PRX.

the scene handled by them have caused many doubt and troubles for multiple times throughout these 4 years of franchising, not to mention the way they treat sea t2 too also hugely hinder the development of the scene around the area.

it is not a surprise, but still disappointed with how they handled it all..

Riot Pacific have mishandled the SEA tier 2 scene but I fail to see how that relates to Korean bias. You genuinely believe that Riot wanted to cripple the SEA scene to favour Korea and not because they just wanted to cheap out and save money by outsourcing things to SOOP?

If I’m misinterpreting you then my bad, but if I’m not that is a crazy take.

after losing 3 back to back finals, jemkin ranted on twitter stating that the white noise in headsets isn't enough as he could hear the casters speak, and alleged that it can be used by the korean players to their favor. Sliggy in platchat stated that he has seen players have the headsets slightly away from ears and frost in his podcast brought two pictures of lakia and sylvan having the headsets positioned leaving the ear slightly uncovered which could've given them info.

also, jemkin alleged, that t1, prx and ns were given preferential treatment

the lore is

tldr
some people think vct pacific is rigged for korea to do well because jemkin complained that he could hear the korean casters, that nongshim were late and didnt receive any penalties, t1 were smoking in the bathroom and if rrq were to try it theyd be penalised, and prx didnt unlock veto twice and didnt get any penalties
frost said the draw was rigged and thats why t1 got a good group
and frost said last year the korean teams were scrimsharing
akame and izu basically said they couldnt hear anything on stream

my post kind of addresses most of these and gives context tho
