Hot take but I think this for most artsy or highly acclaimed drama movies like parasite for example. I just don't find them entertaining ngl. Not saying they are hot garbage tho but not just for me. Also I am not a big movie enjoyer tbh. Movies I enjoy watching are generally action, sci Fi and horror with bit faster pace. Like my favorite genre in movies are like zombie or monster/aliens and disaster genres.
I think arthouse movies being highly acclaimed is due to chain reaction
Someone calls a boring ass movie as cinema with depth and substance and the essence of human nature, then others who watch and don't like it will start questioning their intellect rather than the movie
