Does anyone know why Raze has been pretty much discarded in all the comps that used her for Waylay? It's a curious change that I haven't seen any videos about.

waylay's movement is better, good at gathering info & getting out (meta since initiator nerfs), as well as a really good slow and ult. Raze can't compare unfortunately
oh that actually makes sense with less util focused execs i guess raze's paint shells which had a lot of combo potential aren't as good as waylay as a human drone lol
waylay has the best piece of utility in the game (saturate) and combos pretty easily with a lot of agents in a way that guarantees a lot of value, and it fills the exact same role as raze in a solo duelist and double duelist comp (at least for most teams). If lotus was in we would pbb see more raze but still waylay is too strong and very new so there's still a lot of inovation to do compared to raze
is the stun really that insane? i feel like its def better than a lot of the stuns we have currently like Breach Fault line and astra concuss
it is cuz you don't just use it to take advantageous duels like most stuns but it's way better at combo-ing with other damaging utility, it also works very well cuz players usually jump while dodging util so when they do that now they are guaranteed to die (as long as you have a way to follow up on the saturate). And most importantly it goes off way faster than any stun in the game (even Neon's) and is very big (it might not seem like it but it's actually huge asf) so it is usable in a lot of different contexts, is very flexible and has an extraordinary stopping power.
obviously on top of that she has the TP which makes her very strong at contacting, hard entrying (it creates even more chaos if used well) and it makes her an incredible agent to make trap plays cuz she can not only get the kills very consistently but also have a chance to get out which gives you man advantages very often
I’m not gonna lie, I think a lot of these teams have bad reads on the meta. Double duelist Raze Waylay is completely viable. From what I’ve seen, Fnatic has been the only team to actually use it, and they found great success with it
I don't remember where I heard this, but I think it was Sideshow who said that some teams often have bad reads on the meta. But I'm wondering if the plug-and-play of Waylay for Raze is just due to the fact that maybe Raze isn't viable on her own, and teams don't have players to play both. As a retired raze main (i haven't played val in a hot minute), her kit was more team play dependent imo after the satchel nerfs.
both have very strong aoe, both have hard dbl dive
waylay refract is better than boom bot tho bc most waylay comps have a fade/skye/tejo/sova that can use drone, but the only raze comps that have an agent that can hard dive and get out without any punishment have waylay
raze is still good tho, especially against teams who fake a lot and play a lot slower
i did watch a bit, but imo the fragging potential for waylay seems less than some other duelists, i mean timotino went 13-17 or sum
Yeah but if u take away the selfless jumping around corners he probably ends positive…. The double brim ult with saturate… multiple other rounds where the saturate got him and others kills as well as the a exec they ran after cryo died to spike then they instantly ult the guys showers… that was just attack and I’m getting they have stuff like that cooked up on defence… ult and saturate are good to stall
Also if u are on 100t coach or player that k/d is worthless with the amount of fragless impact
Oh fair, I guess Cryo kinda made up for it, and the impact was from util ig? That would make Waylay more of an initiator type duelist tbh no?
Yes n the saturate is the best util in the game in a meta where util is on a heavy cool-down
amercas is known to stick to something if they think it's meta once other regions play raze and neon would be played more
Waylay has some of the best synergy with yoru which makes it the favored pick and the saturate is just so op at the moment
