i don't really main any specific agent, i kinda just play a bunch of stuff that I think is fun for the map. i like playing astra a lot though because she's really annoying and also requires me to think a lot (adhd power!).
uhh. get ready for a gold astra's crash course on how to play a complicated agent
on defence:
- you place 2 stars in chokepoint that you think they might go.
- if they go there turn one into a smoke, use the other as a stun if you have teammates ready to swing. if you don't use the suck to stall/make spam easier and better.
- if they don't go there, recall one and leave the other just in case.
- on the other site, just have one star down to use as a smoke at the choke.
- have another star mid to apply pressure by either leaving it there, or recalling it immediately.
- if they exec onto the site with one star, pop the smoke and place the other star to use as suck/stun
- if they dont, just leave that star there incase of rotates.
- if they go aggro mid, just play on site and let other people deal with it.
- use ult to retake by blocking main/wherever they are mostly are/the spike to block sound qs, depending on the distance from the enemies.
on attack:
- you can either: fake stars, fast exec, ult exec, default.
- fast exec: just place stars to block main chokes with smoke, stun a spot where someone might play, keep one star to suck them off (bomb)
- fake: place 2 stars where you normally would for fast exec, and then recall them after sufficient noise is made. then exec other site without stun, still keeping a star for suck or for emergencies.
- ult exec: either you do a normal wall (stinky) by blocking off chokes like you would when smoking normally, or a funny wall (cool), leaving only a small part of site on you side of the wall, planting there, and then playing post plant with the rest of your stars.
- default: idk, kinda just smoke/stun to create pressure, suck to take people out of rat spots, use recall for info peaking/search for people spamming.
that's basically it. you'll get a quiz on it later.

if something seems to not work when doing this, it's probably because i'm bad.
if you want more concrete/better advice, just go on youtube and look up "astra guide," there's probably some good ones within the slop.
as an immo ex smokes player i would always just use stars reactively. i dont think i ever rly pre placed stars but idk thats good or not. when execing onto a site just generally put a stun in a common place an enemy would play
recently ranked back up to gold 1 after about a year of being stuck in silver. my util use is alright but i got no aim (consistently around 10% hs rate lmao)
probably bind. not because it's particularly fun to watch in pro play (for that I really like pearl), but mostly just because i get to spam raze and deadlock and make people rage, lol.
