at the end of the day you are only as good as your performances, not as what you claim you could be in a perfect world.

update for clarity: i don't think icy is trash and/or horrible and i also think that his original response to being called bad by another players gf was valid since there should be a certain level of respect between players at the end of the day but trying to defend himself the way he didn't later on was dumb as hell.

yeah that would be awful and i can still feel bad for him if he is struggling with something, but he has the ability to step back from the game and if he chooses to play knowing he is under performing because of an outside influence for two years then the criticism is still valid and using it as justification later on after you get dropped is a bit pointless.

OK and what if the money he makes from being a pro in valorant is important to his outside scenario? If you played enough video games to be pro you most likely do not have some backup degree/job and therefore most likely, obviously not 100% idk the guy, Icy does not have a potential job that will match or outpay his earning for vct tier 1/2.

It's just crazy to me to spread HATE over valorant. Not saying you can't criticize at all but let's be real some mfs have been weird asf abt him when all he said is "they don't know my situation..... they don't know what I've had to deal with". Sorry bro but I am not watching something for the chance to go up to some random person I've never met to call them shit. I am watching because it's something I enjoy, whether I feel comfortable saying how ass they are to their face or not is something else entirely, but it's not going to change the fact I won't see them as a good player. And idk if you know this but when you have a hobby you enjoy, you tend to want to share your thoughts with others which would naturally lead to discuss a players' flaws.

As for the hypothetical of him going through serious shit, I could only imagine how shitty that feel especially if it's disrupting something I am passionate about but that shouldn't excuse him for criticism regardless. Like it's one thing, if his underperformance is only affecting him but his underperformance affects every part of the team. Like others players have lives too and he actively damages their careers by not being able to perform, imagine how many other players there are which could perform better, do they not deserve a fair chance because we want to pity Icy's situation and hope things get better? Why should his pursuit of a pro career hinder other from achieving their goals?
