As title suggests, I'm wondering if any pro players who play on the global stage have nicknames that are only used in your country.
For example, Japanese Valorant community, Alfajer is commonly called "新人" (shin-zin = newcomer). Almost every user refers to him this way.
reason is simple: the name "Alfajer" is both difficult to pronounce and unfamiliar to JP user.
When he joined Fnatic, JP community didn’t know who he was, so they just referred to him as "新人" to make things easier.
There's no need to explain how much of an impact he's had on Fnatic since then.
But the nickname "新人" stuck because it's easy to read, and now, even in 2025—despite being the second-longest standing member on the team—people still call him "新人".
"Fnaticは新人だけのチームだな" → "Fnatic might as well be a one-man team, Alfa carrying whole thing."
"新人が今日もクラッチした！" → "Alfa clutched again today!"
...Something like that.
