This guy isn't allat actually. His problem is that he either gets all 5 or 0 and it makes him kind of a liability at times. He's really good don't get me wrong, but he still has a long way to go in terms of consistency and reliability to be a top duelist in Americas

He is good, if the team calling was a bit better you would have seen the difference. Which is something that can be improved for champs but mada’s quality is good enough regardless I think he is reliable.

I think its because of the way NRG plays, their team is just 4 baiters + mada but he's really good at spray transfers so if he'll just randomly find a way to get 2 when he should just be traded 1 for 1

Across the 3 maps in the grands finals, Mada took 35/68 of NRG's first engagements (more than half) even though duelist will usually take the most first fights, I don't think any team in VCT has their duelist take a higher proportion of first engagement's as NRG

He has insanely high first duel rate when he’s solo duelist, but he’s usually not solo duelist so u have to do a little adjustment on the stats

Across stage 2, Asuna took 102/372 first engagements (27.4%) which is still the highest on the team but in stage 2, things are a lot more evenly distributed than earlier in the year - in stage 1 Asuna took 143/408 (35%).

Just looking at individual matches, I think 100T actually play better when Asuna takes less of the total first engagements

It actually isn't that bad he's only -6 on first kills/deaths but yea it would be a blessing for 100T if Cryo ever decides to step up and play more aggro.

brawk and skuba maybe, s0m is literally one of the most sacrificial players in tier 1 and always baits himself and ethan peeks whenever he's supposed to

idk how you can watch NRG and come to the conclusion that they're all baiters

s0m definitely baits less than the rest of them but I'm not lying when I say Mada has double s0m first engagements and triple the rest of the team. If I break it down across the stage:

Mada - 235/568 (41%)
s0m - 111/568 (20%)
Ethan - 83/568 (15%)
Skuba 76/568 (13%)
Brawk 63/568 (11%)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not flamming NRG's team for their playstyle, it's clearly working out well for them since they were able to beat SEN but I think this playstyle is major reason for why Mada will have pop-off rounds and rounds where he seems quiet. That's all.

it's the duelist's job to take first engagement so I don't think this stat is indicative of much to be honest, if anything it shows they have good reads on where to put mada so he gets first engagements. I'm just going off the eye test where you can see that s0m/ethan don't hesitate to peek and be the first to take an aim duel with s0m in particular dong a lot of jump peeks and being the first to run out of smokes when necessary. as for mada's inconsistency I think it's more to do with his aim being inconsistent rather than the team's play style

The eye test is good and all but it's very subjective, I literally instantly thought Mada was always taking 1st engagements I didn't even know it THIS much since till I saw the stats. The thing about s0m and Ethn not hesistating to take aim duels is something I disagree on not that it's bad but they don't try to as much they could be.

I don't think 100% of his inconsistency is due to the amount of first engagements but I think it's definitely a big part of it. It's definitely not enough to say it's the duelist job to take first engagements when NRG are such a big outlier in this compared to every other team.THIS IS NOT NORML.

Like think about it from mada's prespective for a second, either he dies first in which case he doesn't get to play out the round when everyone is low on health and util or if he wins his aim duel he's more than likely not low on health and util. In the sceanarios he's put in he'll rarely have the chance to get some of the easier kills brawk does. Don't underestimate the luxury Brawk has in clutches e.g knowing everybody's position, having to deal with less util and being against low hp enemies. Mada rarely ever has this luxury.

mada unironically has the highest ceiling in americas as a pure duelist, he will do some insane bullshit to win rounds and he has the mechanical skill to pull it off

problem is he has trouble reaching this ceiling, but when he does i honestly think nrg is near impossible to beat
