Opening match favor #1 team

Why does the champ group favor the #1 team by matching against #4?
I know it is always like that, but in my opinion it should be #1 vs #2 for the opening match.

you should get rewarded for winning the stage by getting a weaker opponent as your first match up. makes sense to me.

Seeding exists to ensure that the theoretical first and second place make it to finals. You don't want the 1st and 2nd place to meet before the finals and ruining the tournament.

Sports Seeding: A method used in tournaments to rank players or teams and then arrange the draw so that stronger competitors are separated in the early rounds.

they won the regionals by beating the 2nd seed, obviously they should get rewarded for that.
otherwise every team will just purposely lose and get that 4th spot :/
