Lower bracket

Why do people still care about the lower bracket in tournaments?
I understand why the lower bracket should be in the qualifiers, but is it really important in international tournaments? I can only remember the FPX run when the lower bracket really mattered because they had a sub before the LB, but in other cases, the UB winners were always the favorites

hurts to say but prx actually. if there's no lb, eg/fpx run would've never happened and they were the better team overall during the tournament

and i think lower brackets lowers the stakes for every playoff match cuz

single elimination may be more competitive and lead to the best team winning, but riot will never switch because lower bracket is better for entertainment, not only are there more matches and more opportunities for storylines, but with double elimination it almost guarantees that the grand finals is between the best two teams at the event. like if bangkok was single elimination, the finals would have been g2 vs edg, which was a pretty easy win for g2. even if that was a bo5, it would not have been nearly as entertaining as g2 vs t1.

Lowers the stakes yeah but it makes the lower bracket matches and the grand final more hype, plus the map veto incentivizes teams to try get to and win the upper final
