Opener bo1 doesn’t matter because if any team was good enough to win they’d clear the lower bracket which is bo3

No lower bracket in playoffs doesnt matter either since the winning team will still have beat a team that beat a team that beat every other team

The biggest asterisk on this win is that it doesn’t contribute champs points and the fact that g2 and xlg couldn’t field their best rosters (but only the second was even somewhat the fault of ewc)

All in all I’d say this is as meaningful as a masters 1 win. It’s probably harder to win than masters 1 too but I’ll concede a little

nah its a legit event (1.2mil prize pool, the top teams, 16 teams (more competitive), fast-paced tournament (strong teams that can adapt to different teams' playstyles survive))

Single elim is way worse in valo cuz with 2 good maps like trace at camps u couldve just knocked 3rd place out. U can just completely outstrat the other team and aim doesnt really matter atp

Biggest problem with it has been schedule tbh. Like cn had to play their stage 2 games 3 to 5 days before this event. That's a very unfair situation. And then apac games start 2 days after ewc. And another problem was the qualifiers ngl.

Also one of the major reason people even consider lock in as mickey is cause of it's single elimination playoffs but you didn't even mention it for this event.

Unless this event becomes part of the official eSports cycle for valorant and the schedule and format is improved it's not gonna be as prestigious as any masters.

Considering LOCKIN a mickey doesnt make sense other than the low 500k prize pool.
Single Elim > Double Elim because strong teams survive and teams are going to play at their fullest to continue in the tournament

also teams knew about the EWC for a long time now. its not something they just found out about (teams knew it was an important part of the schedule for their year)

Lol single elimination will never be greater than double elimination for val at least. Single elimination increases the fluke runs more ngl. Matchups luck matter a lot in single elimination. Like Toronto grand finals would be wolves vs prx lol if not for double elimination.

Also why does it matter if pros knew about ewc schedule? It's still ass. Also will pros try for champs qualification more or this ewc? Many teams literally didn't even participate or send their best roster for ewc qualifiers. Idt that would ever happen to masters or champs. That alone says a lot.

1.25mil prize pool is nothing to just miss out on (with 2 of the teams qualifying from each region being the winners/2nd place of stage 1 - who are trying to qual for champs btw). and 3rd/4th place in stage 1 also got an advantage in EWC qualifiers. Your point doesnt make sense.

The teams that are doing well for champs qual in VCT stages are the ones with advantages to get into EWC. EWC cant be a fluke tournament lol

I mean we saw what teams normally choose to do during ewc qualifiers. I don't think even bottom tier teams like zeta or dfm would miss out on champs qualifiers. Or decent teams like kru will send out their worse roster. Champs is officially the biggest event of the year for valorant and it has insane prestige too.

Also how did 3rd or 4th team in stage 1 get advantage for ewc qualifiers? More like they were at disadvantage with having shown most of their stuff and needing to play for ewc qualifiers just a couple of week before Toronto. You can't tell me that tl were at advantage for ewc qualifiers lol.

There is a good point I forgot to mention. China was a little screwed over for this, playing with different map pools so close to each other.

That along with g2s roster issue are probably the most “mickey” things abt the event, but most people focus on non issues like single elim playoffs or the opener bo1

Well idc abt bo1 openers and single elim playoffs, and I haven’t really heard much reliable information about the servers/tech issues.

Also wolves had every chance to make ewc, they played their full roster against tec in the qualifier and lost

The thing about g2 is valid and it’s reminiscent of masters Reykjavik and how fpx couldn’t make it. But even then majority of ppl still rate optics win highly

no bcos if they had the new map pool they could start prac for it now, and have a head start for stage 2 which they wouldve missed. teams that went to toronto and then to this barely get time to prep so new map pool would actually have been good. its not gonna be better than a masters until they actually fix everything w the structure and production and if it meant anything outside of money
