Why are orgs in Tier 2?

Shouldn’t it be just FA teams that get scouted to tier 1… why are orgs trying to profit from a tier 2 system?

Huh?

Tier 2 should just be FA teams trying to get scouted into tier 1, ideally mostly 17-18 years in age that actually think they can make it

Why are there so many aspiring pros in declining industry ?

Don't teams need an org to be running in a long run?

Why, if you’re really good… create a team and you will eventually get scouted by tier 1.

If not why are you going into this industry and genuinely why are there so many orgs in the first place.. there isn’t much money in esports

As someone that likes investing in business, its truly mind boggling

Can you explain why we need this many orgs in tier 2 or even any at all, don’t we just need the players once
Once a FA team ascends the will then have an org?

you realize that orgs can make money by having tier 1 orgs pay buyouts for their players right

The players are not going to get salary or any payment at all (Except for mvp award money or ad revenue)
This is going to fuck over the tier 2 scene as most players would probably go back to Uni after making no money playing tier 2

But are they looking to be paid to play tier 2 or should they play tier 2 with the goal of making tier 1 and if they can’t or don’t get picked shouldn’t they go back to uni?

Don’t we just need academy teams?

Orgs/teams help develop young talents because they've been doing this for years.

"if they can’t or don’t get picked shouldn’t they go back to uni?"
That shrinks the tier 2 player base drastically, basically making the scene dead.

"But are they looking to be paid to play tier 2 or should they play tier 2 with the goal of making tier 1"
Of course they would want to make tier 1, but they have to feed themselves first. Playing professionally is like a job.

"Don’t we just need academy teams?"
Ofc we need academy teams, but if the scene is filled with academy teams it gets incredibly boring.

Cant academy teams do this..
Sorry I honestly wished someone could explain why we need orgs in tier 2
And is the answer just so that players can get paid to play matches that people don’t watch?

I remember back then people played esports and tournaments due to being exceptionally good and for the passion

Is it just money at the end of the day everyone is fighting for?

Orgs in tier 2 = more orgs gets the opportunity to ascend and make the scene a long term thing

Is it just money at the end of the day everyone is fighting for?

Yes bro. People do things for money.

so that their org can get into valorant franchising? there isnt much other way if you werent selected for franchising. unless you buyout an ascended roster or whatever like g2

Players wouldn't be able to play full time, less viewers, no infrastructure = lower level of gameplay = bigger gap with tier 1

Mate orgs are trying to get into the tier 1 system, tier 2 is like an investment phase (a very shitty system)

Why do we need this many orgs.. we only need the players once a team ascends they will get bought by an org… until then existing orgs can pick from the list of players in tier 2.

I mean you'll probably see that more with t2 money drying up. No point in paying a roster for 3 stages when you can just wait to pick them up for the last stage and save some money.

Thereby diluting the level of professionalism each player is capable of exemplifying before making it to franchising.

By this logic, people shouldn’t invest into local hockey teams, basketball, among other things.

I just don’t understand why someone would try and make an argument for less jobs, as opposed to more. Do you go to Loblaws stores and tell the employees that there isn’t a need for them to work, because the larger store (I.e. Walmart) with lower prices is right down the road?

E: Like, do you think it’s by coincidence that TGRD/G2 had an org backing them and they ascended? You can’t waste your time/life on a bet. People need income in order to supplement their needs. I see a lot of dumb takes on this site, but this is one of the worst, exacerbated by the fact that this doesn’t seem like bait.

Dead ass, go to school and do something with your life before saying people just shouldn’t get paid to play because it isn’t franchised. By your logic, esports would have significantly less players competing. You’d have more people like RpK (counter strike) torn between working in their family business and playing.

Academy teams is all that is needed and FA teams willing to bet on themselves to make it to tier 1

orgs allow for more people to compete in the t2 system, not everyone can spend a whole year working for free

Because they want to ascend. Are you stupid?
