I didn't come from a cs background so I don't know too much about the guy. But both NRG and TSM performed quite poorly under him so why are teams still picking him up?

I think the only fix was to actually let go of some of the core. I've cited this from day one and I'll continue to say this, TSM has a sentimental problem and don't like letting go of their old roster when it just doesn't work out in games.
I understand I don't see the scrims but the results kind of show how well its working out. I think its an IGL and role issue and with rigid players, the only solution is to have replacements. Valorant is a scene where if you can't adapt to the new meta, you'll get lost.
The whole Mike situation is fucked up but tbf Chet is a good coach(not as good as Mike tho). You say NRG and TSM performed poorly under him but NRG was a top 8 team with Chet coaching for a while(until Daps left) and TSM made it to Challengers Playoffs and almost beat Envy. Also in CS he coached NRG/EG to being a top team for a while and then coached 100T who were pretty good under him as well. Basically, he's a pretty good coach but paying him what he's probably getting paid while not even being in contact with Mike makes 0 sense.
