Did you guys know that 3/4 of Russia’s population, including Moscow (where gambit is based) is in the European continent? Therefore they are European

CIS isn’t a real geographical thing it’s just some economic alliance

Yes. Only problem is that some people see EU as Europe and other see EU as European Union. Realistically it means European Union, but in terms of regions in games and such EU means Europe.

Eastern Russia is uninhabited land with gold, diamonds and gas. Yakutia is 3.1 mln sq km(same size as India) and has 1m ppl, the further you go east from Urals the less populated Russia gets.

The esports world knows Russian/Ukranian teams along with other countries as CIS. It has been that way forever. CSGO has had it forever. Why change it for Valorant? Gambit is part of the EMEA region, but are known as being CIS. Either way, no big deal who wins. It is a team and not a region. People need to get over that.
