T1 T1 North America Rank #10 have finished building their North American roster with Spyder , previously known as Sayaplayer. He was released from his Overwatch League team, the Florida Mayhem, earlier today.
Spyder was best-known in Overwatch for his skill on the more aim-intensive hitscan characters like McCree and Widowmaker, the game's sniper. His reputation as one of the game's best snipers dates back to 2016 and remained with him as he joined the Overwatch League in 2018 and competed in 2018 and 2019.
He saw little playtime in the 2020 season, stepping in for just three matches. The Mayhem, who he played with for all three seasons of his Overwatch League career, announced earlier today that he would no longer be with the team.
His move to T1's Valorant squad makes him the only Overwatch League veteran to play alongside a team of seasoned CS:GO pros, although AZK was also an Overwatch pro in the two years before the Overwatch League began.
Spyder is also the team's only South Korean player and the first South Korean player to join any major North American or European Valorant team. While he lived in South Korea and played for Korean teams prior to joining the Overwatch League, he played alongside English-speaking players in the 2018 and 2019 seasons and has lived in North America while competing in the Overwatch League.
T1's announcement also confirms Skadoodle's return to the starting roster. He was benched just before Pop Flash in late August and neither him nor the team as a whole has played in a competition since then.
The new roster will get to debut later this month in Riot's First Strike competition.
