OW vs CS

I’ve always heard, what if cs pros switch to Val, blah blah blah, but I never hear what about overwatch pros? I mean there’s so many who are top players around the world. I feel like top overwatch pros could do very well if they were to make a team. (Btw pros as in DPS). And I feel like they would do better than cs players.

Overwatch is based more on utility usage than just raw aim, which is similar to valorant's abilities (or more similar than cs is) so their ability to pick up agents that use unique abilities could be easier for them and they would be better with them. Idk much about ow because I haven't played it so don't attack me or anything I'm just saying from what I know.

also they should be significantly more adaptable, there was a period in like 2019 or 2020 when weekly hero bans were a thing in ow, every week they had to learn a new meta and shit so theyre gonna be a bit quicker in figuring out new metas and agents in theory just because they had to be good at it previously

from an NA standpoint btw, the only ow pros that are at least half decent on t1 teams are zombs, sinatraa, corey. Sinatraa said it himself that if you're transitioning to play val, cs is miles better than ow as a starter game.

We will see when OW2 releases seen as it’s going to be 5v5, so a bunch of off-tanks will switch seen as the only viable tank will be shields

I don't think tanks are the types of players that will be good at Val.

You act like sinatraa, one of North America’s best players wasn’t a Zarya main

He also mained Hanzo and tracer. He only played zarya during the tank meta. Try again

Trill was a main tank and he's actually pretty good tbf. Tanks would have a little more work to put in I guess

Zunba played off tank in OW, and he's a pretty solid controller.

playing DPS in ow is much more mechanically demanding than any role you could play in csgo or valorant, you will never need that level of 360 degree flicking or tracking in a tactical fps. BUT

the two games are too different for their skills to transfer over reliably. while people like to pretend csgo and val are totally different games, they are functionally the same at the basic level. the skills that are rewarded first and foremost are your game sense, positioning, crosshair placement, and spatial awareness. quick flicks come later, and tracking is just altogether unnecessary

i wont even mention how fundamentally different val and ow are strategically, that's a whole another thing where ow pros have to literally remap how they view the game down to timing, map awareness, communication, etc. while these qualities are all basically 1:1 to cs.

solid dps mains would definitely do fine in valorant mechanically, we have players like corey and sinatraa who are obviously very skilled. but they had their own learning curves to overcome when they started that a experienced csgo player wouldn't even have to think about.

sinatraa wasnt even playing much dps at the end of his career

the point was that this wouldn't really apply to a tank main that tried to go pro in valorant lol. (of course there are exceptions)

The difference between cs players switching and ow players switching (as said by ex ow players such as babybay) coming into a game like valorant with 5v5 bomb planting game experience, you will have such a big advantage sure valorant has agents but it’s literally Csgo with cool abilities ow players def have better aim than cs players but cs players have such a leg up it’s crazy

kabal cameback to gaming for competitive overwatch and STILL slapped some heads and he is CS1.0 old school(2000) which was a lower skill level period in counter-strike but still did some damage.

to answer your question I think ow/paladins players do badly then they do in their previous games with sinatraa as an exception. Take bonkar for example he was at least top 5 in Paladins and now he is not the same insane bomb king/mad fragger he used to be in this one. Also I think he is the only sole Paldins pro left which is sad for me because I was rooting for team Paladins to do well here :(
