Berlin groupings

Alright I’m going to say that everyone has started talking about the Berlin groups and how there a mess, but I’m going to talk either way. I know riot can just switch the groups because there’s still a week and a half. If they don’t switch I hope they can learn from this mistake and prepare for champions with better intentions. Valorant is still a very young game, and I think that this game will live for many years. They did a very well job with LoL and they can do the same with Valorant. They are very communicative and if they continue to listen to community feedback that’ll help guide them to a better quality of life game but not entirely changed as they have the upper choice and they are the developers. Riot you can still make a quick change to the groups with a week and a half left so you can make Berlin a more enjoyable lan to watch.

reasonable take

but we could have had in a world where VS, ACEND, SMB and Envy would've been in the same group.

There's no shot they change the groups. This would set a precedence that all the community has to do is whine relentlessly to get what they want. Honestly, they aren't even that bad. The pools they made are 100% fair. Just an unlucky draw that made group A what it is. This was bound to happen.

The seeding honestly just doesn't make sense though. Honestly I'm fine if they are willing to listen to the community if they whine hard enough. Because these groups still can be better than what they are. If we are whining for the right things. Then it'll be fine. And if Riot can't know what's right or wrong. Then that's their fault. Even though any game community can be extremely dumb at times. They will be smart if they have to. I feel like this is a case where Riot should listen. Because they can.

And what about having the second and third seed of EMEA is fair though? or how Envy gets an easier group. Even Hiko pointed it out in the video. Either they need more transparency or they honestly should listen to the community this time.

Going with just good enough. Won't make this game any better. We want the best we can get. That's the only way this game can pushed forward.

He has a reasonable take. Because all the things are technically true. The pools are technically fair. There was an unlucky draw.

But I only disagree with one thing which is that this kind of precedence will be bad or that the the seeding isn't that bad.

I never said the actual groups were fair, I said the pools were fair. You also have to think about it from the perspective of the teams from group B. The groups were already released, and now one of them would be switched to a harder group due to the community/fans, not the actual players, whining about it. That wouldn't be fair to that said team. Riot could have just made the groups based off seeding, but that is hard to do objectively due to all the regions having a different amount of teams. Making the pools and drawing the way they did was the only way to make it objectively fair for all regions. There was 1 unlucky draw and the community thinks they should be able to whine and be listened to, and not even think about the other parties involved.

It still confuses my why they had the second and third seed of EMEA is in the same group. There is no objectively fair group. But I just don't think this is obviously the play here. I think that some players will probably talk about it if they have the time to.

And were the pools perfect in the first place. no. no pool is objectively perfect. I think it's fine to make the seeding better if we need to. Because then the seeding will be better. I'm not even sure if the seeding that we believe to be better. Is even better. But I don't think it's a problem if we keep whining for shit. Because at least we know Riot is listening. And if they listen to a completely dumb idea. That's their fault. Not ours.

EMEA 2 and 3 are in separate pools. It was made public, before the groups were even made, that 2 EMEA teams could be in the same group due to them having the most teams. They made this rule and followed it, and it was also made public so IDK why everyone is so surprised. At least its not EMEA 1 and 2 together. The draw was random. They made the rules and they followed them. Do you expect them not to follow the random drawings when the two EMEA teams were put in the same group and just change it since no one would even know?

And your only thinking about the community aspect and what you want when asking for the groups to be changed, since you want to see the best teams make the playoffs. Your not thinking about the affects the changes would have on other teams, your only thinking about the affects it would have on SMB. What you think is right, clearly other people think isn't, including Riot, which is why they haven't changed the groups. It would be the wrong thing to do since the groups were already made public. If they changed the groups, and moved Kru to group A, than Kru and all their fans would start complaining. And they would actually have the right to.

This would absolutely set a bad precedence since the community would think they're 2 for 2 in getting the changes they want. Riot changed the format, after initial complaints, and it was the right thing to do. It didn't affect any teams or the amount of games being played. This group change would affect teams, some in positive ways and others in negative. Its just not a reasonable ask when you look at it from all angles. If they do change it, I'll be absolutely shocked. Sorry for the long post.

Thank you for having a very reasonable argument. And I actually think you might be a little bit more right from me. Let's see what Riot do here though.
