can navi fans shut the fuck up abt the format?
the single elim game is a PLAY IN GAME. the alternative is only the top 2 of each group making it out, not adding double elim
for example
NBA playoffs, the top 8 used to make playoffs in each division
now, the 7-10 play for the last 2 spots.

regional playoffs have always been top 6
the problem with 6 team playoffs is the games are now single elim for no reason when they used to be double elim

the single elim wouldnt even be bad if the seeding made sense
how can a 3-3 team end up a better seed than the 4-1 team?

Because they're in different groups. Look at sports. Seeding is determined by relative performance within the group.

ur talking about when the teams used to play against people from their OWN group , not when its a cross group

it also wasnt a problem before because it used to be double elim and unfair seeding doesnt matter as much

im just confused because they have been using 6 team playoffs for a long time and its always been double elim to avoid any bullshit like this

No they play cross group in sports too. I'm not sure about the single elim, I guess they want the first seed to mean more.

the play-in game is to see who the #2 is in each group, doing this invalidates the whole point and it'd just be better to not have the game and have the #2 teams advance

these formats should not be used if ur splitting groups

bro its happened before in group stages, where a 4-1 team in 1 group rates under the #1 seed in the other group as that group has a bunch of 3-2s and 2-3s

ya and thats why there was a double elim to not give so much value to unwaranted FIRST SEED

especially when its a cross group WE HAVE SEEN proof of them being worse than NAVI

like what ur saying makes sense if the group stages are PERFECT , but its not thats why histroically RIOT has had double elim in regional playoffs

it was double elim, it was 4 teams making playoffs instead of 6 teams. there is no justification to say 6 teams should make playoffs instead of 4. it is just personal preference.

The point of qualification is to send 3 best teams from each region
If 3 best teams get put in the same group, then one of these teams will be out for sure

there is no way to know who the 3 best teams are, blaming riot for putting the 3 "best" teams in 1 group is so fucking stupid. like at this point people are going to bicker about them not making playoffs because riot put the best 4 or 5 teams in 1 group, or even that the best 12 teams didn't make an event because 5 of them are from 1 region. its pointless
the goal is not for the best 3 teams to make shanghai, its impossible. the best team doesn't always win, T1 are went 2-1 in Bo3s, DRX went 0-2. T1 are a worse team than DRX, but they won when it mattered while DRX choked an 1-0, 11-8 lead and mako shit his pants going 6-19. its goal is instead to provide a path for teams to make shanghai, and the teams that deserve it most go. I.E the 12 teams at shanghai

People are not blaming riot for putting 3 best teams in the same group but for making a shit format where a possibility like this exists

The goal of every qualification is to let 3 best teams from each region participate in international event. Sure teams might perform bad sometimes but if 3rd best team in region is out simply because of format then its bad(talking about navi, its drx's fault for not qualifying)
