Better Champions Slots

Here is my take of how many slots each region should get at champions

1- Berlin Winner(I like this slot as it makes winning Berlin an even bigger deal for the region that wins)

Circuit Point Slots:

3-NA
(Separate EMEA since most of the events to earn circuit points were already separated)
2-EU
1-CIS
1-TR
1-LATAM (Combine BR and Latam cause they already play and they don't deserve 4 slots total)
1-Korea
1-Japan
1-SEA

LCQs:
I like the continental qualification as it opens up inter-regional competition that we don't usually get to see. I think the current distribution should stay:
1-Asia
1-EMEA
1-NA
1-South America

This gives:
EMEA 5 Slots (used to be 3)
NA 4 Slots (was 3)
Asia 4 slots (Was 5)
LATAM 2 slots (Was 4) Sorry LATAM but 4 slots seemed very excessive and I couldn't give EMEA 2 more w/ out giving NA 1 more...
Berlin Winner 1 slot

it's okay, I think keeping latam and brazil separate until the pandemic goes away is the only solution currently

How about making Champions 24 teams with 8 more slots for all the cucked regions:
+1 Oceania
+1 MENA
+1 India / South Asia
+1 China / East Asia
+2 EMEA
+1 North America
+1 Korea

Yeah I didn't consider that and I think that would be the best option... Though the # of games might be insane w/ the round robin format that Riot seems to prefer

LoL has 24 teams at worlds... CSGO has 24 teams at major... R6 has 20 teams at six invitational... Even Dota international has more - 18. You can't just sit at 16, considering that the game is growing rapidly and every single region needs support to survive.

support to survive? half these regions cant produce 1 competitive team

yeah, do you think a play-in is the way to go or would you want it to be like Esl Pro League

Yes, EPL new system (without stupid play-ins for 1st places) seems really cool and could be used for lots of tourneys

the problem with slots for champions is 16 teams feels like too few to determine a fair world champion when you have 30 kajillion regions imho.

NA and EU should each have 4
CIS, TR, BR, KR should each have 2
LATAM-N, LATAM-S, JP, SEA each get 1

4 LCQ slots
NA and OCE
EU, CIS, TR, MENA
BR, LATAM-N, LATAM-S
KR, JP, SEA, SA

This would be the best take for me. I find it strange that the "minor" international tournament( Masters) would have the same amount of teams that the Champions

(this is for next year. this year won't be changed anyways.)
I'm guessing for next year. MENA and India will be integrated so at least 1 slot should go to one of them at least. Probably India will get it and MENA will just have LCQ. Honestly I'm fine with the EMEA super region shit. If they have like 6 or 7 slots. And remember they don't have the same masters 1 next year which screwed circuit points over. So if the circuit points work correctly in the EMEA playoffs. 6 or 7 slots should be enough. And then India and the places around them should at least get 1 slot.

I think the 4 LCQ slots thing is fine. And the rest of the things are fine. Except. LATAM-N is kinda small lmfao. Probably just combine those two like before and give them 2 or 1. Or integrate LATAM-N into the NA VCT somehow with qualifiers and shit. And integrate LATAM-S to Brazil. These teams can honestly already play with eachother. But I guess that Canadians and LATAM players. Would have a shit ton of ping problems, so prob not the best idea.

I agree with basically all the changes besides uniting LATAM with BR because Brazil is a server of their own and we have many differences. This way you ended up committing the same mistake as Riot where they put TR+CIS+EU in the same bag. Also, I didn't understand why NA should have 3 slots instead of 2 like EU. So I would take a slot from NA and give it to BR/LATAM so each region gets represented properly. Another idea is to join the LCQ from NA with the LCQ of South America , though I haven't put much thought on that

so if NA wins berlin they would have 5 teams at champions in this case?

#23

yes and if an EMEA team wins they would have 6

2 EU slots would be pretty unfair if NA gets 3 IMO. Both should be 3.

I mean RN EMEA gets 3 slots total vs NA 3 Slots total, I feel that giving EU 2(possibly 3) out of the EMEA 5 and giving NA one extra is pretty fair
edit: Also adding that EU is not guaranteed any slots at champions rn vs my plan giving 2 100%

Currently EMEA gets 4 slots total. I don't think giving NA 1 slot more is fair. Sentinels winning Reykjavik doesn't make the whole region better. EU and NA go hand in hand when it comes to rest of the teams.

#25

problem is 2 slots for EU is waaay too few for the amount of top teams that EU has

#26

I still prefer EMEA because 2 TR or 2 CIS or more can qualify that way. Just makr EMEA 5.

Tjat mighr end up in eu teams buying all the cis and tr talents and the cis and tr region dying. They should 100 percent have own regions

I fully disagree asia should not as a whole have 4 slots, just east Asia has more teams than all of europe

region splitting is arbitary though

Why is BR separate region from LATAM to begin with?
Why is TR separate from EU to begin with?
Why is JPN and KR their own region?

#38
Viktor22

Frags

About TR/EU and JPN/KR, I can't say much, but for BR/LATAM there are some reasons for this split.

  1. LATAM and BR are servers of their own
  2. Ping wise is almost impossible to play with the whole LATAM when in Brazil. Depending on where you live you can have a decent ping, but that's very situational
  3. We speak a different language
  4. Conservatively speaking, BR is at least as big as the rest of Latin American countries gaming-wise. We are the third biggest gaming market
  5. BR is vastly different from LATAM cultural wise

Joining the regions would be as absurd as not having NA and instead having "America" or joining CIS and EU

#35

if TR will have a spot for themselves so should BR. That is also a very EU/NA centered view.
