Feels like the overall quality of VCT went down

the only region that made an improvement of gameplay quality compared to last year is EU as much as I hate to say it, FNC kept the same roster and everything but got slapped by 2024 KC. Maybe FNC would've qualified over TH though.

LOUD w/o aspas is showing hard, so 2023 EG and LOUD if they kept their rosters would've qualified for Madrid from what we've seen so far.

2023 DRX and PRX would've qualified for Madrid 100%.

CN is still EDG and friends.

It's just the first event after a long break though but a lot of the gameplay feels way more loose than what we were left off from last year for sure.

better than 2023 LOUD and EG? idk not really. LOUD with qck over aspas is a nerf no matter how you look at it, and yet they still managed to 2-0 then 2-3 SEN and qualify for Madrid

better than teams at lock\in besides LOUD, yes

yk that isnt how the game works

"X team played Z team close so Y team wouldve been better than Z" is not good logic

  • there's a chance LOUD becomes a lot worse throughout the season since they won't have as much time to prepare a whole "gimmick" like the phoenix comps. there's no telling that EG and LOUD would've remained as good with their previous rosters either. players' form can get worse/better

Stuff changes with the meta yea but saying LOUD w/ aspas wouldn't be stronger rn is just crazy no?

potentially, but it's hard to guarantee since i do think this phoenix "gimmick" gave LOUD a lot of edge in these games, and i don't know if they would've changed their playstyle alot compared to last year if they kept aspas. between 2022 and 2023, their "playstyle shift" was the harbor viper. they innovated it and got ahead of the meta, and began to fall off again towards the end of the regular season (they kept dropping maps) and bombed out at tokyo. so i feel like teams would've had a pretty solid idea about how they play with aspas since it's more one dimensional and i highly doubt they would've gone through with the phoenix stuff with aspas

LOUD's new comp is definitely not as great we make it out to be, SEN's like the only real improvement from Americas though

Sen's retake arent that good, their post plant is.
Loud's comp was not good. Maybe for a surprise type of comp utilizing it for the first time then yea but with footage? Hell no, eg already showed the weakness it has. In lotus i dont even gotta say, loud coach staff smoked crack pipes thinking they could play 3 bombsites map/long chokepoints without a sentinel and a goddam phoenix

don't compare it to champions 2023. Compare it to lock\in 2023. Americas has definitely improved from Lock\in. The average quality is going to go down over the course of an offseason, its just the reality of it with partnerships

Comparing anything to LOCK//IN wouldn't work though I mean it's a single elimination tourney, you lose a single series and you're gone. SEN would've been out in their first series if LOCK//IN happened this year.

100T got top 8 itw at lock\in... 100T last year are around KRU and C9's level this year.
Ps. no SEN wouldn't because they wouldn't play LOUD because same region

Teams will improve more during the regular season, this is just the start. SEN has the best chances to win a international now because they have been griding for months already. But as the year goes on, it will be definetely harder and teams like LEV and NRG will become waaay better than right now.

Just remember EG and C9 last year.

I mean that was to be expected. Major nerfs/buffs to meta agents form last year. After stage 1, we will see real valorant

I agree tbh, I think the best team in Americas will be one of those who didn't make madrid and who grinds hard asf
