Greatest sport on the planet. Glad Taylor Swift is getting a new audience into it.

Hopefully Mbappe dates Joe Burrow or some shit so all the european soccer fans will be exposed to gods gift to america.

Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
‘Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps’ pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Europe has no "soccer" fans. Bunch of football fans around here though, and do believe me when I tell you some of them are very proud of their team/country when it comes to it.

Wouldn't be caught dead wearing a Napoli jersey in Torino...

I apologize if I'm making you uncomfortable in any way. Having lived in Europe for quite some time, I've come to be acclimated with the traditions that surround me, one such being the engagement and observation of the sport known around here as "football". I understand that in the United States, a very distinct sport that shares the word "football" in its name exists (American Football).

Regardless, the point I'm trying to make is that I'm not making any silly attempts at causing a debacle about what to call "football" or "soccer" as you guys call it. It would just be unwise to be unaware of what the general European populus sees as acceptable and unacceptable when it comes to defining the aforementioned sport.

The majority of European football fans I've met all share a dislike for the word "soccer", and my friend even hits me (sometimes) when I use that word in a conversation. Despite that, American football does seem to have a certain degree of recognition in certain parts of Europe, as several of my close acquaintances/friends have/are participating in rugby, which as far as I'm aware is quite similar to American football.

tldr: I'm one of those Euros* that understand the diverse vocabulary different dialects possess. I've grown up being told to avoid the usage of the word "soccer" when referring to football, thus in my original comment I chose to define the word I was replacing it with beforehand, which happens to be called "football" in Europe.

I tried my best to get into American Football. The Sport itself is good but I hate the f*cking commercials, it's like getting a temu ad everytime a guy farts. One of the worst viewing sports imo. Also football soccer is ridiculously popular as is. No one banging anyone changes that
