50k a Year ? You get free housing ( Food ? ) , Thats not including you can stream in ur free time, Tournament winnings, Hell you make champs thats like 20k in your pocket right there , getting paid 50k a year to just game dont sound too bad to me ! seems like some players spoiled to me man!

It’s not horrible when they finally come out with team skins and if you make champs.
It’s pretty embarrassing for a pro of any sport to make 50k. Just shows how far from a real sport E-sports is.
I made more than 50k a year as a bartender and I make 70k a year as a manager at coca-cola.
It’s just weird to be one of the best players in the world and make less than a manager at Applebees
but you have to remember that this is 50k with presumably free housing, housing usually is ~30% of the average American salary in reality, your 70k at CocaCola is ~50k.
And you have to remember, not matter how hard these guys work might be, at the end of the day they sit in a chair doing what they love- playing video games, and to make ANY amount of money playing video games is a dream for many people, there are some people that would rather make 50k playing video games than 150k working a 9-5 no matter how delusional that opinion is, its something people are willing to do.
Idk. we can assume that the people that rise to the top of esports are above average IQ, more often than not. Esports careers are often short, and you can very easily go from t1 play to t3 in a year or two, unable to make a reasonable income. Just compare rhyme in EU, who was at the peak of his career and building upon and IGL role as a decent fragger that could have had many years more competing. He chose the safer path of a presumably steady programming career after education for whatever benefits playing would have yielded. Often a real job is less stress, fewer hours and offers more in the way of building toward long term financial compensation.
