Valorant as an esport

Upsets are fun but do they happen too often?

Can you say the quality of the esport is good if teams can go 1-5 or 0-9, then turn around and qualify for a major? Suddenly going from worst to best team.

Very unpredictable. Too momentum-based?

Just opening for discussion since a lot of pros comment on this too

No it’s perfectly fine, especially in the context of KRU losing basically every match by two rounds

KRU made such a rise because Americas is so bad

I think first to 13 is just not enough rounds to determine who the best team is with Valo's economy but its fun.

Also Kru was never really bad, they had some really close games, they just couldnt close it out.

saying this with a flair of the only emea team who lost to both NA teams in a row has to be braindead af.

I don't think upsets ever really happen in this game. The better team will still generally always win
KRU was much better than that 0-9 record showed. They just barely lost so many games because the tiny little things were just not going their way. Those things started to go their way and look at them now.

Valorant is a momentum based game, just because of how few rounds it has. But its fine. Teams might come in being the favorites on paper, but can play bad while the other team is frying. Being a favorite on paper doesn't matter, its all about what you show when it's game time and the pressure is on you to preform.

Its because valorant is still semi open to teams coming from Tier 2. These teams had a lot of tier 2 talents before franchising. counter strike has ruined their competition since 2019? with partnered leagues where they "invite" teams, which defeats all the purpose of competition in open circuits. Once they go to majors with no "invitations" upsets like rio major and paris major happen. Too much nepotism in CS right now but I think valorant is in a healthy spot. They should definitely add relegation/promotion tho to sustain the game even more.

dont think KRU were ever the worst despite the 0/9 record and they are now also not the best imo

most games KRU lost were 3 maps with a close third map during the season

KRU also werent expected to make it far into playoffs so teams wouldnt have been watching them as closely as other teams to anti/understand their protocols, so other teams werent as ready for them but I also cant deny keznits numbers right now because theyre crazy
