I try to explain EDG's success

Coming into the tourney, I already expected EDG to beat T1 and NaVi. I even called the fact that the NaVi game was EDG's although I expected it to be a 2-1. The reasons behind their winning is simple; Ruthless Aggression and INSANE mechanics. For my money, this is the most mechanically gifted team in the tournament but I don't see them toping teams like Liquid and EG based on the fact that those teams are teamwork and strat heavy teams while the teams they faced thus far in NaVi (troll comps, relying alot on mechanics) and T1 (Shit teamplays) were not simply upto par with all of the other teams playing in the tournament.

That being said, great work by EDG and i really want to see them go even higher this tourney and hit more peaks but it seems highly unlikely. Proud of them for going this far though.

Although EDG do have insane mechanics, dont misunderstand them as a strat-less team. In fact Sliggy breaks down their playstyle here and they have incredibly good midrounding on par with NRG, their attacks are very slow and methodical, with aggressive plays built on top.

"on par with NRG" is a stretch tbh since everyone knows how great fns midrounding is and we haven't seen much of edg

Sliggy had said that if the names were taken away he'd think EDG were NRG with the way they were midrounding and manipulating the rotates. But yeah, we'll have to see. I see EDG vs Liquid as a 50/50 imo.

I know they are a team that has strats, I didn't say they're stratless but I think implementing them during games isn't really EDG's ballgame.

No my point was that they do use strats, maybe not as much vs NAVI but their game vs T1 was an excellent display of a more tactical style

I hope so because they are very exciting to watch but I cannot agree with that.

I think they can make a lower bracket run and beat eg or drx/prx not sure about how they fare against other teams

Liquid is confirmed to play against EDG obviously and if EDG lose they face EG/Loud. I didn't say they're the best (even tho Liquid is in contention for it) but they're the 2 potential matchups EDG will have coming into this bracket.

https://youtu.be/nQImiBEj-20 watch this and you can see EDG arent W team like Prx at all, they have cracked players but their playstyle and game pace more like NRG imo. Not too much set play strat heavy like drx-eg but very flex like nrg loud

Here's another EDG success story: EDG adopted the Bayern's buy best player from league strats.

  1. Core member Chichoo, Haodong, Life, Abo
  2. Double swoop best performing org player at the time Qing Jiu Club 2 best player: Zmjjkk & Nobody
  3. Just before East Asia LCQ to qualify for champs 2022 they took Weibo Gaming who was causing EDG problem at the time best player Smoggy
  4. China super team by assembling best 5 ( -life & Abo)
