Could teams be kicked from t1 for being bad

So all of the teams currently in VCT are permanent teams because they were selected by Riot. But what if a team for multiple years in a row is just bottom of the barrel, no improvements in performances, just taking up a slot that an ascension team could have. Would Riot ever drop that Org back to tier 2 or is it unrealistic?

If a team is building a roster with bad players intentionaly just so they can save money and keep the money riot gives them for themselves, yes, riot can kick them

It can be possible, as what Trapyy_ mentioned in #2. It will just be a long process of investigating and coming up to a decision to end the partnership with the team at an earlier end of a season

#2 and #3 said im also pretty sure after 10 years they renegotiate the partnership but that is about 10 years away

whole point of franchising is to provide safety and support. relegation would be the opposite of that. however, I would bet riot has a contract with the orgs and can kick them from franchising. riot just needs to add more t2 support bc 1 team per region for ascension is dumb (also riot could've done better choosing franchise orgs; wild they don't have g2, optic franchised)

Riot is the one that owns the slots not the teams, so yes they could kicked a team they deem is not worthy of the partnership they have.

I remember hearing Optic didn't get in because they left league after being in some kind of league sponsored by riot

likely, but also as far as i'm aware optic was like... in some really shady shit regarding finances, which could've contributed a lot too
