Many cities in Brazil has more population than many countries in Europe. Just used Slovakia because your flag, bro. But if you wanna another example, the city of Sao Paulo has more inhabitants than Belgium.
Assuming that population is not a reason to give spots, well ... Valorant is fps. Brazilians always perform good on fps games (OW is essentially a MOBA in first person). CSGO, R6, Point Blank, Crossfire ... basically every fps got brazilians fighting for titles. Why would this be different in Valorant? I think Riot got their own metrics to compare different regions since this is the first time they will face each other.
I do agree that Brazil should be a region on their own, but you also must agree that EMEA has like 3x more people on the servers, as well as 3x more competing teams and way better esports infrastructure.
Riot defined 3 major regions - NA, EMEA and BR, but in my opinion it's definitely not fair, EMEA should be considered a major-major region (duh) and has to receive even more slots for all further VCT events.
And by "even more slots" I mean at least 5 for Berlin (take 1 from Japan away), and 5 for Champions (increase number of Champions teams from 16 to 18 and make it like TI Dota format).
If those changes I wrote above happen IRL, trust me, EU people like me will stop malding about slot allocations.
For me, the biggest problem is that Turkey + EU + CIS is considered only one Region. They should have given 2 spots for EU, 1 for CIS and 1 for Turkey. The current format is a disrespect to all EMEA, especially Turkey that has been pumping up an incredible and big community and won't have any sort of representation in Iceland. While other much smaller regions will have a direct representative.
I guess they made a research and found out that there is more playerbase in Japan / Latam than in Turkey / CIS, that's why they decided not to bother about the last 2 and just integrate them with EMEA. And it turned into mistreating the whole region by supplying them with same slots as NA and BR.
I expect in the next year of Valorant Rito will establish a spot for Turkey, and CIS will still play under EMEA because the game isn't popular here by any means. OR Gambit somehow qualify to Masters 3 / Champs and prove that CIS is one of the best.

Yes this does seem like a unwarranted take that is just racist. HOWEVER i sorta think they could’ve have formatted brazil better. There were 3 regions who had 2 slots, EU, NA and Brazil. The Eu winner(liquid) and the Na winner(sentinals) both got byes while the Runner ups of the regions both had to do play in game(Eu Fnatic, Na V1). However both the Brazil teams got first round byes. I think they should’ve had the second place brazil team have to play a play in game just like the other 2 regions

random means random, but no way a region with 2 spots gets a bye game each plus the losers bracket. not saying it's rigged, but riot has to revise the bracket so every region has a fighting chance, since EU and NA have their runner-ups play the play in, with the 1st seed getting a bye game. besides, what should have been random was the teams playing, play in games should have been random amongst runner-ups in the major regions plus the minor regions, while the rest have it randomized, so unless Riot has no brain doing this bracket, you shouldn't educate me on randomization, BR has an obvious unfair advantage over the rest due to this random picking in the bracket and it should be noted

Anyways the real regions getting fucked by emea only having two slots are both TR and CIS, although it's good like a Russian dude said a couple weeks back because it brings more competition and need to evolve and improve to the 3 regions Emea is made of, it still is only 2 slots for 3 regions, gambit i.e which is a really solid team that could 100% compete internationally didn't get to see Iceland

They are right, EMEA should have at least +1 slot and brazil should Play in LATAM we don't have latency problens playing against them, NA WEST and EAST have more trouble playing against each other than we have playing against IDK colombia for example. Also, brazil is also part of LATAM, since we speak a latin derived leanguage and we are on the american continent so... I don't see why not.
I think the first problem in this scenario are the distance between the countries. Brazil are FUCKING miles away from Mexico, it's not like Canada playing with USA, it's like USA was forced to play against a team from EUW. Also, the brazilian playerbase are higher than the LATAM. I agree that EMEA having only 2 spots it's bizarre, should be at least 4, but saying that Brazil should play with LATAM (North and South) it's too much. In those countries we don't have the infraestructure to play without ping/internet overall issues, remember that ALL the LATAM region (including Brazil) are underdeveloped countries, and not a global economic region like NA/EU/ASIA.
