I just saw some shocking stats about the quality of American education. I didnt believe it at first cause all the schools in my area seem to provide adequate/high quality education, but its probably different in other places. How is/was your HS/JH experience?

true, and I suppose the curriculum is different in other places and I knew it was bad someplaces, but i didnt think it was 54% of americans reading below a 6th grade reading level bad.

It’s only going to get worse unfortunately, pursuing higher level education is already financially unattainable for a lot of people

Anything past highschool is pretty damn expensive.
Even most middle class students still need scholarships, loans, or special deals from the school where they get to pay less than a normal student
That’s also another reason so many students take AP classes (college classes you take in hs) in highschool because it’s one less class you have to pay for in college

It depends, where I live, the public schools offer high quality education from kindergarden to 12th grade. But once you reach the point of pursuing higher education, the only cheap choice is community college, which is rarely adequate in the jobs market. Private colleges can dump anywhere from 80k - 200k+ debt on you and financially cripple you. I believe trade schools are getting more and more popular but idk much about them.

we had 2 lockdowns this week, on monday 1 guy assaulted another student (the guy that assaulted the student had apparently been in a mental ward for a whole year and they never told the students this) and 2 people got stabbed at my school on wednesday😁

My areas schools are all good.
Same thing in the area I was in before I moved.
I have a hard time understanding that average American public school is bad because all of the public schools where I’ve lived are good

The public school I went to had high quality teachers but a completely dilapidated building, but i get what you mean since ive never been to any public school where the education was genuinely shit

Actually yeah I was thinking mostly about the teachers/students
Only in the last year or two has my highschool started renovations, before we were still using buildings from like the 70s and one or two parts were from the 90s cause they got built later
None of my school facilities have ever been top tier but they have never been horrible

it varies from state to state and even county to county it seems. With the school district I went to probably, but it seems some school districts are truly shite

My high school had great programs. The only issue was the enrollment of teachers and how we were the only high school in the district to not have a block schedule. Rather, we sticked with the traditional 6 classes per day schedule

Not sure. There wasn’t any funding issues when we were there. Probably the school’s idea of adapting in a system that they believe would be a good idea.

my school is top 3 in the state academically and we have all the funds and infrastructure necessary

there's over 100 clubs and our school has 28 different sports (it's 28 because some sports have a male and female division) there's a club for literally everything

our school offers every AP class and has had a 99.5% graduation rate for the last 4 years
