for the past couple days how did the crowd do compared to your expectations.
put in mind the following :

  1. compared to masters Copenhagen's crowd
  2. meeting ur expectations for turkey as it's considered to have one of the biggest player bases in the game especially in EU
  3. having it be 75%+ EU biased
  4. the game's first sold out arena crowd (VCT)
  5. would you want istanbul to be a host of international events in the future

and if you can write the reasons or what made you think that way

9 for EU, 2 for any other region.
Too bad 2 eu teams will be eliminated soon.

Is the crowd that quiet or Riot's production doesn't put proper mics or tones down the real volume of the crowd? It would probably be great but unfortunately unlike CS events (closest comparison) the matches just dont feel as hype if you can barely hear the crowd in the arena.

  1. 7 - This section because it means nothing. Copenhagen was mid
  2. 3.5 - very underwhelming in terms of fan engagement (comparing to CS bc it is the main competitor)
  3. 1 - NA would have been nice (bias), but I think an APAC major would have been the best option
  4. 4.5 - Not terrible, but not "meh" enough to be a five
  5. N/A - I think this is more of a production and event design problem rather than the city. Turkiye has potential.

  1. copenhagen was better imo, cause they cheered for both teams and were respectful, keeping in mind that denmark is part of eu.

  2. larger than i thought it would be, didn’t think valorant would be this big in turkey despite hearing that before. nice to see a turkish player in front of turkish crowd.

  3. champions players worked hard to get there. even though it’s understandable to be biased, the silence and disrespect (booing) ruined the atmosphere for a lot of players&viewers. i think drx x fpx match was a really good example of what the crowd should’ve been, respecting good plays and teams.

  4. idk if it was sold out, but definitely good size crowd. shows how valorant fanbase is growing

  5. for valorant, personally i would say no. i think japan might be a good place to hold it judging from their lans and japanese fans are always respectful

overall rating- 6.5

Even though the crowd is biased I still enjoy the cheering and the overall atmosphere it gives to the games definitely makes it more entertaining, I personally give it 7,5. I do hope they start cheering for non eu teams as well because for most of the players it’s their first time and it sucks to get boo'ed.

ok man did u not watch DRX vs FPX? give them some credit like you and i and everyone knows that if an EU vs NA match happened in the states the crowd would be so much harder on EU teams, it's the same so let's not make NA vs EU matches the standard

imo u should look at NA vs other region
or other region vs EMEA and if the crowd is very biased then it's an L crowd

they do tho, it's just the NA vs EU matches that looked like this

prolly a 3... not cheering the players (not hyping non EMEA teams is understandable) but at least cheer for them cuz they've done a lot to be in the playoffs
Also they go silent during the match and only scream when someone clutches

Honestly an 8.5 or a 9 would be good. People are crying about bias and stuff, that’s literally what crowds are for. You mention Turkeys big fan base and you can see it in the crowd, the home advantage is real and EU’s rivals are getting no love, exactly what the home teams want from a crowd, and it’s what’s to be expected. You will NEVER go to a sports or esports event and see the fans cheer for their rivals. Day 1 was a perfect example of how good a crowd can be, and it wasn’t even sold out. The best is yet to come, people will complain and whatever but the truth is, you won’t get much better than this, and nowhere in the world will be less biased than this either.

Boston major where C9 won. Crowd cheered for both Faze and C9. Both. There were no "booooos" from the crowd.
Even though it was NA v EU they cheered for both.

When comparing it to Denmark, people forget how ambitious and passionate the Turkish audience is. Denmark is not a major Valorant country. Turkey is completely different. We know and love Scream Boaster and Alfajer. We are the same community as them

that's very different there's so much things to mention that would explain why but the most important is that the crowd in turkey is literally just people from turkey unlike csgo events where the game has loyal fans for the teams that would travel to be there for their team

honestly i hope we have an international event in NA next year, i promise u it will be similiar

And remember, we supported OPTC and congratulated them on their win. XSET coach started a war and the crowd kept it up

OPTC beat EU
DRX beat EU
and we applauded them

We could have applauded XSET, but the XSET coach quickly chose to go against the crowd.

5 of the 8 teams in playoffs are from NA and EMEA and 2 of the only 4 matches that have happened with the crowd have been NA vs EMEA, pretty hard not to bring it up. If you didn't want an answer based on what we've seen so far, kind of the wrong time to ask.

They're not just biased, in Fnatic vs XSET they were completely silent any time an XSET player did something significant, and they'd pop off if an EMEA player got even one kill (not an exaggeration). It was only slightly better in Optic vs TL, presumably because Optic has been a top team for a while now and have had great performances this year. I get that Alfa is the only Turkish player in the event, obviously the Turkish crowd will favor him heavily, but having a reason for the bias doesn't really make the crowd experience any better.

It's pretty lame, doesn't really matter if the bias would occur in reverse at an NA venue, which is conjecture. I imagine teams like TL or FNC would definitely get cheers even in NA.

Only upside is XSET leaning into it and antagonizing the crowd, because the crowd would be against them anyway.

Why are ppl crying about bias crowds lol this is common stuff. If ppl comparing it to cs remember most of the teams in cs are all eu lol. This shit common when u have international competition.

The point of a crowd is to have fans from each side who will cheer for their team. It's much more interesting to have sides of the crowd that will cheer against each other than it is to have a one-sided crowd that only cares about a couple of teams. Naturally the bias will lean towards wherever the tournament is hosted, but every major has been hosted in Europe, including the only 2 tournaments to have a live audience. Sports don't have teams that are the home team EVERY time. Hopefully there will be some diversity in venues in the coming years.

The bias is fine though, it clearly hasn't made a huge difference in team performance so far. It just feels really dead on the broadcast when their team isn't winning.

  1. Pretty much the same like Copenhagen just the amount of hype was more towards Champs
  2. Good numbers in crowds
  3. Big problem lol
  4. Good for the esport Val scene
  5. No

I give it a 6 because there are a lot of cheers but also a lot of boooing which I’m not a fan of
