Laz and TENNN

Every time they lost a round, Laz's face was pure pain. Tennn I think cried a little. What the fuck is the mental coach doing? This is disgusting. It broke my heart more to see them this sad than them losing. It's even harder when you're the only team representing an entire region. And the bastard coach had the audacity to be annoyed? I honestly hope Laz and Tennn both leave, they deserve a better team that is not ZETA. I should've already known they will not do good adter Xdll was removed from team and Tennn was asked to play.

true, laz and tenn deserve much better, especially laz, 26 year old gigachad having to carry the ABSOLUTE SHIT out of his team, dragging them across matches.

all of their emotions are valid tho? The coach from the sidelines should be annoyed at the mistakes they are making, and the players have the right to be upset when they missed to chance to make playoffs

big part of being a coach is recognising your team's mental and keeping the vibes up.

you can be annoyed just dont be expressing it when you know your team needs some reassurance and encouragement

yeah, I just think it's a player problem not a coach one. They need to stop crying

If you let your emotions get in the way of listening to critiques and fixing mistakes before a game is over that is a problem. I don't even know what you're saying with this. Crying after the game is over is 100% valid. I didn't even see the clip this is about so feel free to correct me.

Good thing humans are not robots listening to commands. Why do you think mental coaches exist? Couldn't the coach just swear at them and tell them to play good?

A good player is resilient I hate to break it to you. Was the coach that was annoyed at them a mental coach specifically or a head coach? Was he actually yelling at them? Was this while the game was ongoing? There's no evidence that the coach is putting an unhealthy amount of pressure on the players and you're just looking for someone to blame.

They aren't permanently resilient. There are many factors that make them resilient. One of those factors is mental support. A coach's job isn't only to make strats and convey it to the players. A coach's job is to motivate the players. This guy was facepalming mid game, knowing that ZETA aren't in a good position mentally, it looks like HE needs to control his emotions better. What is wrong with this guy? Why do I have to explain basic human functions to you?

I don't think a facepalm is affecting his ability to communicate, obviously there is a limit to toxicity but if a facepalm is making you cry you have a problem. Bro doesn't understand high pressure situations. Venting frustration is not like breaking down and destroying communication. You're blaming mental of the players completely on the coach you are so stupid man.

Mistakes are being made because of pressure. The problem is the root cause, not the player. I see other teams losing rounds and they seem so confident, they give out fistbumps and smile. ZETA on second half weren't even giving fistbump, they were shaking. That is a mental issue.

its a culture gap, no? japanese tend to fall over and crumble when they feel pressure because they're scared of sharing their negative emotions, whereas most other nationalities don't care and will gladly say "fuck you" back to the team thats shitting on them

No. This is because DRX and ZETA are the only team representing their respectful regions. If there were two Japanese teams like Northeption and ZETA, they would've been much more confident. The burden of making an entire region lose is bigger than you think it is. And these teams don't make excuses like certain teams that I will not name, when they lose, they lose. Laz after his loss, when he was packing his mousepads, he looked speechless. He has nothing to say. These guys put more effort into this game than anyone else. You won't see them saying "It's just a game" after they lose, to them, this is their job. Of course they will take it seriously, this is how everyone's mentality should be. Like I have been saying, this is a mismanagement issue from the team + a lot more things added on top of that.

True... xdll not being played a single map despite practising more than TENN was quite a surprise. And yes, the mental side should have been sort of cared more by the coach

I actually think if Xdll played especially in the opening and elim game, it would’ve given TENNN time to prepare and perform.

Xdll was pretty good in BLUE BEES on both controller and initiator.

east asian mental health is weak, look DRX and Zeta players reactions when something bad happens

DRX is an over exaggeration they put their heart and soul in the game. DRX has been improving i mean common 12-9 to 16-18 against 100 Thieves yeah they definitely improved their mental.

And do you want to know why they have “bad mentals?”

Because they put more time into this game than anyone else. It’s essentially their work ethic. Wanna know how much DRX works? 10 hours a day, every day. Almost no time for breaks or days off. Hours of just scrim blocks and practice every day. That’s just regular work in East Asia.

Wanna know why they break every loss? Because they put so much time into their jobs that it hurts them to see their efforts be for nothing.

They’re both their sole representatives for their own countries. Mental is something that comes with time, especially when they consistently have this much pressure placed on them.

koreans lol players do the same and their mental is great

Because LoL is culture in Korea.

Obviously you’d have all the infrastructure for success when something like League is the thing in Korea. In Valorant, there’s probably not even half of that.

i think its only drx that has weak mental. on slayers were amazing in lcq after getting dominated by edg in the opening match.

Read the part where he says they are the only team representing their country. Comparing LCQ to internationals is idiocy.

kinda true. nuturn were known for their amazing mental

I think the NUTURN success was also partially due in part to the value solo and peri both provided as players due to how experienced they were. Not to mention how in comparison, at the time NUTURN had a very different style to VS that had more room for error compared to DRX. Your point does make sense though

This is very true. League of Legends is to Korea what Football is to Brazil. Valorant esports in Korea is still in a development phase. By losing internationals, they are hindering the process of the game's growth in Korea. This is such a big responsibility. And when they lose, they can't do anything other than apologize. They can't make up excuses and start supporting the other team, that's because there is no other team. They are the only team carrying the hopes of their country.

esport do not accept loser. the way to have a great mentality is to become stronger. After more and more experience, they would go over it. so yes, GL Zeta 2023.

I'm uninformed, so please enlighten me, what's the culture around losing and competition in Japan? I know in the US for traditional sports it depends on the level, but for high school and university there is a huge pressure to perform, especially if you are a traditionally good team. For pro teams tho, until you get to the playoffs games don't get too competitive.
