I know that all Korean males have to go to the military but I have legit never heard of this mf going into the military, was he able to skip it because he's the biggest star in LoL or something or is it just delayed

Idk if somebody like him could. Biggest kpop stars can't evade it, doubt he could.

Can't faker delay his longer because he dropped out of highschool? Remember reading that he wont have to do millitary service, but other public sector based service. OR if he can win the gold medal at Asian games, as esports was just added. SK count that as service to the country if you win. It happened with Son Heung-Min being exempt because he won gold at Asian games.

I could be 100% wrong, so please correct me if I am.

With League being a part of the Asian games, Korea's top talent are gonna be climbing over each other to guarantee they don't have to go the the military, team KR vs team CN looks like it would be super fun to watch

I think they got rid of the rule that high school dropouts don't do military service

last I saw about the dropout, they still have to do public service, just not millitary. So will still have to spend 18-22months serving the country in some way.

I'd be surprised if faker isn't in the KR team. Guy is the face of league, and KR esports.

khan had to do military service that’s why he retired - unless he wins asian games i think he has to do public service seen as he dropped out of high school

pretty sure there was some proposed law where if you did some great cultural service to the country you were exempt from service, not sure if it passed though

even if it was passed, would being good at League really be considered a great cultural service?

Have a few questions so sorry if I seem stupid..
What age do Koreans have to do military and how long?
Also what tasks do they undergo during this? And what happens if you reject it?

think you do training then service for a while, Son although exempt because he won the asian games still did his training during lockdown

We have mandatory military service here as well so my assumption and research (haven't been in army yet):
You have to serve after turning 18 and I would imagine that most serve year or two after that due to school etc and you have to serve before turning 28-30?. And Korean have to serve for about 20 months.
And for tasks its just basic military training and then you specialize to certain branch. It likely has different periods aka starting with basic stuff that is taught for everyone and then more specific and obviously during this time you do your serve in whatever branch you are in. Let it be navy or whatever.
And if you reject you are likely going to end up in jail. Also at least we have option for civil service aka 11 months doing usually government provided jobs and I would imagine South Korea having something similar but for longer due to our service only lasting 6-12 months instead of 20.

but this is just my assumption based on little research and our system
