splatoon in general is a better game than CS
Imagine the only value someone can get out of your game is sweating their ass off learning static unchanging properties of the game (spray patterns + nades) and then they have to play on a 3rd party server to actually get games with good people...

Splatoon is a great casual game, has a competitive mode, has team PvE mode, has a story mode, character customization (without paying hundreds of dollars), and has a ton of personality with its unique mechanics and art style.

CS is only being kept alive by traders, tournaments, and wannabe pros
There is nearly no casual fanbase, most CS fans/players are absolute diehards which is unhealthy for the game and hurts the new player experience
the last time CSGO had casual fans is when surf was a big thing to play, and thats not even CSGO at that point, just movement game
