Fuck me, the riot creative team makes me BUST

I fucking love the psychological horror theme this event is going for. The ending sequence with the teams' names as the credits to the "movie" got me wet.

I think the cool thing about this teaser is that it's relevant even outside Valorant, even outside esports potentially (although it still is markedly gamer-y) with how it explores performance anxiety.

Zeta viewership go dumb stupid crazy, it's at a "decent" time for Japan too (midnight).

400-500k Zeta I think, could be higher if it's a close match.
KRU vs Liquid could be big too if certain streamers stream it (ibai, grefg, aguero etc.) 400-600k there.

Xerxia vs Optic will be lower, 350k max IMO because it's a shit time for SEA and Optic isn't super popular.

i (think) Laz is the IGL for Zeta\

imo Nukkye < Zest if only looking at the IGL aspects of their play. He makes up for it in frags, though.

now that a year has passed Zeta Division can finally drop their training weights and show the world how Valorant is really played

come back to this post after they win Masters 1 without dropping a map

depends on what it is

for example, if I'm looking for a mousepad I'd rather get one that is pretty than one that is fast

but if it's a mouse I'm only looking at the durability and shape, without caring about how it looks.

depends on how it's implemented.

could be a 12 team circuit with, say, 8 slots bought and the other 4 open qualifier-based. (though, I don't think that will happen because of revenue sharing and promotion stuff being difficult)

I hope there's a VRL-like thing added to every single region. It really bolsters the tier-2 scene.

Otherwise, I think this is unsurprising since the format was more or less a test run for a league system.

Yay about Xerxia - now that "Palpatine" (patiphan) left ...

I don't think chess has a low skill ceiling by any means, it's extremely high.

It's just that, in theory, because there just are more things that you can do and have to do in Valorant (and other esports), their skill ceilings should be even higher.

The skill ceiling thing will always be fucking hilarious to me. As if a game requires a high skill ceiling to have a stand-out talent.

I'd say Chess comparatively has a lower ceiling than pretty much any esport, just because there are fewer things that are possible to do. Yet, people like Magnus Carlsen exist.

(Chess undoubtedly has an average skill much, much closer to the ceiling than any esport, though.)

if you're a T1 player on a T1 org, which is maybe 50 players total, yes.

Otherwise, I'd imagine the 50K US starting salary in the OWL is at the very least comparable, if not larger.

nukkye is the only S+ player.

it's unbelievable that he gets that much individual impact while also IGL-ing pretty well. There's really just nobody who compares - nobody igls well enough to offset the gap in individual impact, no fragger gets enough individual impact to offset the fact that they do not igl.

Close behind him at tier S, I'd place Keznit, Derke, Chronicle, and nAts for excelling in their roles. cNed and Yay also fit. Possibly even Sacy and Trent if they show up at this event.

Nobody else really comes close to these players right now, imo. In the future, Valyn, Aspas, Jingg, and F0rsaken could be there too.

predicting an esports (or really, a sports) tournament's outcomes is really fucking hard if not nigh-impossible when there are so many factors that influence the outcome.

the reason their takes are parrotted is because they offer at least some evidence from games to support their arguments (most of the time), not because they're accurate.
