The buyout is like the maximum a team would have to pay to get him but it can always be negotiated down if the team accepts. Yay's it's probably so high because they expected him to do good. And also it's usually supposed to be proportional to the salary in order to be considered a reasonable buyout it's usually 1 or 2 years worth of the players salary
