emerald is a new rank introduced I think 2 years ago because the gap between high diamond and low diamond/high plat was way too big, emerald was created for that. Plat queues are essentially still Gold matches but just slightly better
play mid if you’re learning, ranked unlocks lvl 30 (so like 3 weeks if I remember), depends on what rank. If you’re naturally skilled and have a drive to improve but aren’t gifted, you’ll hit gold in a month, plat in 3 months, emerald in around 8, diamond in a year and a half, masters in 2-3 years, gm and challenger depends on grind rate + immense dedication as this is where high elo starts (including high masters)
