I am training to become a palliative care volunteer.

In my brief time so far I've had the privilege of meeting many incredibly compassionate, attentive and altruistic people.

The community is amazing and it's a group I want to be a part of.

I feel like I've made the right decision in putting my hand up to volunteer, and I think it will be something I want to do for a long time.

There was a kid at church who walked up to me and said I looked like Jungkook.

I mean I'll take it, but that kid must have had prosopagnosia.

Whether a tree lives to see the end of centuries
Or a random hand picks it instantly
Life is art, a miracle for all to see
I must tell you that you lived beautifully

from Nujabes - Luv(sic) Part 5.
It's become a bit of a life motto for me.

Yeah I know what you mean. I've always been a bit of a yes-man, just agreeing with everything that everyone says to me. So with any kind of charged work I've been trying to keep in mind the perspective of the author, and I think through it to see if it's something that's true to me.

Currently having a read of All About Love by bell hooks.
It explores various aspects and influences of love in modern society. A lot of its discourse is on how the current social structure and hierarchy (at least at the time of its publication, 2000) contorts our conception of love.
It's been good so far. I think it's worth reading.

edit: I also enjoyed Convenience Store Woman. Read it all in one go a while back. I thought it was quite beautiful in the way it explored ordinary life.

Some pro VALORANT teams decide to fight each other IRL. It's a battle royale in a large open field. But it's not the actual players that show up, it's the actual description of the team:

Sentinels: Five average prison guards.
100T: 100 unarmed Victorian-era children who steal from factories and shops to make ends meet. Elusive, but they're weak due to malnourishment.
Cloud9: Nine literal clouds.
Gen.G: Gen.G apparently stands for Generation Gaming. Five average gamers show up.
TSM: TSM's current midlaner, PowerOfEvil.
T1: Tyler1, complete with headset and tank top.
Renegades: Five bushrangers.
Soniqs: 5x Sonic the Hedgehog, movie version.
CLG: The rapper Logic, armed with a kitchen counter.
Fnatic: A crazed Fnatic fan, complete with Fnatic jersey.
Gambit: A chess player, average elo.
Ninjas in Pyjamas: Five feudal Japanese ninjas. Due to budget cuts they've had to ditch their normal garb for their pyjamas.
Team BDS: The man the team is named after, Patrice Bailo De Spoelberch.
Vision Strikers: Five men armed with really bright lasers. Can induce short-term blindness.
Crazy Raccoon: A raccoon suffering from rabies.
Team Vikings: A group of five Norse warriors.
Gamelanders: Five gamers who are afraid of the sea.

I tried to avoid teams which would be too unfair, such as Immortals or FunPlus Phoenix. Also feel free to suggest some other teams - for example, I couldn't think of anything for Version1 or FaZe.

Which team wins?
Bonus round: They play a VALORANT tournament. The teams which are a single person or thing have five versions of themselves.
