Edited the post for anyone wondering

These were the odds of team winning the Masters before thee competition started as of April 5th (remaining teams highlighted):

G2 Esports +225
The Guard +275
Optic Gaming +275
Team Liquid +500
Loud +700
Fnatic +800
DRX +2500
Paper Rex +2500
Kru Esports +3300
NiP +5000
Zeta Division +10000
XERXIA +250000

Yes, I know bettors are unreliable when predicting this, but I'm familiar that in a few instances in other esports and sports favored team would usually reach finals and not win it (G2 lower bracket run???). What do you think about this list?

Edit: Odds that state +800 for example mean that if you were to invest 100$ on that team, in case they win, you are rewarded with 800$.

People need more time to figure out the timings with her stars, so they lean into more comfortable picks of Omen and Brim for the time being.

I don't agree with this take, in all honesty.

Neon has a lot of impact in the right hands and if teams play around her to allow for fast rotations and site entries properly, she is viable. However, she needs a slight buff as she's stuck at that not entirely a duelist role.

Chamber take is on point, as he was created with exactly that thing in mind.

KAY/O not being mainstream is far from the truth as he's the most picked initiator behind Sova during the masters, whose kit makes him a necessity 90% of the time. Teams that utilize him, do it fairly well and efficiently, so he is more than mainstream.

Astra is still viable, tho controller mains will go through an adjustment period to get used to her new timings. That's why we still see her used sometimes on maps where her smokes are most viable.

Yoru's future depends entirely on teams' willingness to put the work in scrims and adapt to his outplay potential. Where ranked players treat him as a troll or a meme pick, his kit now offers a lot of initiator-duelist combo potential, and could easily be the secondary duelist pick, or even a primary option if, again, teams are willing to put the work in for his outplay and entry potential.

DRX winning the whole thing could potentially have so much impact on the way pro Valorant teams play. Their strategic and fast adaptation playstyle would be mimicked and we would have many more teams investing significantly more in the coaching staff sectors = more fun to watch.

DRX 2-0 ZETA

I feel like a lot of things that have zero connection to the game itself impacted the competitive nature of Masters and EMEA teams.
It's not like some comments state " EmEa WoUlD sHiT oN team name here", but definitely we were robbed of a little bit more back and forth games.

"Way better" is an exaggeration tbh. They both very efficiently fill their roles and team needs.

PR and social media presence create legion of fans and supporters.
Legions of fans tend to become annoying and irritating, therefore, "haters" emerge. Most of the time, it's not that they hate G2, but their fans.
Think of Undertale, FNAF or some other fanbases like that as an analogy.

You cannot rate anyone till you've seen them play.

I enjoyed watching them and xprt is such a good initiator. He opens up the whole site for his teammates with so much ease.

The team has been killing it lately in the Tier 2 scene, they should get picked up by a big org and get a proper coach, and who knows how far they could go.

No team should be overestimated on the international stage.
DRX fans can have a lot to be excited about tho. They are playing some beautiful Valorant right now, have a good read on their oppponents most of the team and the set plays are gorgeous as well.

Do not overestimate them, yes. But do not underestimate the potential they have.

Any team can beat their opponents on any given day tho

posted about 2 years ago

They literally prepped for like 5 days with two subs... They got no chemistry or cohesion whatsoever... playing against any team that played together for a longer period would be challenging, let alone against a team that qualified for Masters.
This is expected.

I feel like Liquid is a team too momentum-based to just ignore the possibility of them losing against Xeria. If TL don't land their shots in the beginning, Xeria might just walk away with a W... Gonna be a banger match either way.

People tend to evaluate potential rosters based on recent performances and stats. They fail to forget that team can build cohesion and chemistry while at the same time, making them better both individually and as a unit. So often, they tend to forget that just the playstyle of a player being compatible to others is more important than the pure fragging power or a star potential.
And because of what I've stated, I'm so excited to see this exact roster. It would be so dope to see how they match up against the rest.
Guard type of practice and a little team-building vacay could do miracles for this roster.

Idk man, you cannot replicate what FNC was doing during the group stage of qualifiers with one, possibly two of your long-standing core players not playing. You have someone new having to adapt asap to their playstyle, other players on FNC adapting slightly to the new players, changing strats, defaults, etc.
Not impossible to win, but highly unlikely.

How can you type this much and state so many things wrong lol

posted about 2 years ago

It's "if they insert teams problems here fix" type of scenario.
People tend to underrate how many teams can actually fuck around and win it all.

The pain with this comment lol

Question tho, do you mean, most kills in the game as a whole (both teams) or a single player?

Point proven, have a nice rest of the day. :)

Dropping a comment to get an answer, dont mind me.

People forget that on any given day, any team in Masters can compete and win against other favored teams. This is a top-tier pro scene, details matter.
Therefore if Liquid works on their callouts to nullify the confusion that is sometimes present in their game (probably because they are not yet comfortable with shifting to a different playstyle with each map, something their team comps require) they can literally win it all if they just have a good day at the office lol.

Still, a longshot.

You did sound aggressive, ignorant & assuming. No point in continuing.

Big Guild fan here... but no. While they are still underrated and should get talked more, Leo is definetly not deserving of this list. Sayf could be, and is in my eyes a strong contednder for top 10 players rn.
Shao is one of the better team & support players, and is probably the most valuable player on FPX as of right now. Top 10? Heavily debatable, just because FPX as a unit is strong af and they do not rely on any individual to pop off to win, it is hard to rank him. But again, in my eyes - 4 out of 5 FPX players belong on like Top 20-25 players list.

W for pointing them out tho, wish more people talked about them.

posted about 2 years ago

They have a decent chance. They have patience, don't make macro mistakes as often, they can adjust and adapt precisely to the situation. Any team that doesn't take them seriously will get rolled over.

The only solution would be to change the place where LAN is being held... which is almost impossible in a given time frame and would cancel many other teams' protocols, flights and it would definitely be unfair towards all the other teams who have all prepped to go there already.
I understand you are sad, as we are, that we won't see a champion contender on LAN, but the FPX themselves said it, it's something they cannot solve no matter how Riot approached this problem.

Of course she has. She shines on Bind, she can still be an awesome comfort pick on Breeze for someone who doesn't want to play KAYO.

Zest is currently, at least in my eyes, reliable. He fits this team comfortably, and I say that as a big fan of Lakia and K1ng, who I really want to see on the same roster consistently (not like they used to play on VS). Zest is better fit for this team, when we take into consideration how this team plays. Take Doma vs Braveaf analogy, Doma is a ridiculous fragger and awesome flex player, yet FNC performs better with inexperienced Braveaf.

Yes, EMEA got better, but so did NA. Loud could make some noise too... I mean, the game evolves, many teams & regions got better.

Mako proved himself in many instances and on many agents, however, I do think that the current meta could prove to be challenging for him. If he cannot be a "site-locking" presence he can be, due to jump in explosive attacks recently, DRX as a whole could suffer.

W take btw

posted about 2 years ago

I'm curious what people think, can DRX pop off and get a high placement in Reykjavik?

If you've watched a couple of their last matches, they look much better than they did in Berlin and in the opening stages of qualifiers.
They are much more coordinated, disciplined and have refined their plays around their main duelist Rb. They rely less on strict set-piece strategies and they have improved their mid-round adaptations.

P.S. Mako is still one of the more underrated controllers
