I was watching some of the grand final between fancy and lazy and there was so many mistakes.
Not as much synergy or proactiveness shown compared to other regions

30+30+10+8+8+4=90
So you have an extra 10% to give to a team/teams.

It's a very underdeveloped fps region.
There wasn't a huge csgo scene there either and in r6 it's dominated by Mexican players.
It's nice to see riot give the region a chance but I struggle to see it doing more than just produce a few talented players (like daveeys etc)

thanks!
I've been trying to continue this and look for a player in each region for 2024.
I've done the americas: https://www.vlr.gg/221425/d-2024-prospects-americas

Though finding younger players in t2/t3 oce and vietnam etc is pretty hard.

hahaha nah I don't play the game at all, I wouldn't be able to spot important things that stats dont show (like decision making etc)

I just did this to see if stats from t3 events could translate into potential top players.

I appreciate it.
Not all of them were crazy "Hot takes" but making predictions before qualifiers is always risky, a few upsets and you could be out for the whole seaosn.

Post season update.
The VCL Challengers NA 2023 season has now come to an end for all these players.

1. verno

2. zeldris

  • A solid start and a foundation to spring forward into next year.
  • His team OREsports performed mostly as expected, coming in as the lowest seed the season was always going to be tough.
  • A disappointing split 1 had left them with 0 wins, after a few changes to the roster they finished split 2 with a respectable 2-3 record though this wasn't enough to prevent the team from going into the play-in-relegation.
  • Most importantly, OResports retained their NA VCL spot after coming 2nd in the relegation event, beating the likes of Mad Lions and Disguised to secure the spot
  • Individually speaking the numbers won't be as eye catching due to OREsports struggling for a large portion of the season, though for the relegation playoffs Zeldris had a 1.13 rating, 228.1 acs , 1.2kd and a 57% first kill win rate (data used)
  • Standout game: 2-0 versus DSG in the relegation event, with a 1.36 rating and 254 acs in the series
  • Highlights: 1v3 vs TSM

Honourable mentions:

  1. furbsa

  2. Dark Ratio

    • Dark ratio went into the season as the "T2/3 offseason kings" and came out as a shell of what once was
    • The team underwent multiple changes once they were signed to mad lions, though they were still relegated.
  3. sym

    • Sym's team was quickly signed by moist-moguls which led to the team quickly improving and ending the season as the 3rd best team in the league, which sadly meant they missed out on the ascension tournament.
    • Sym ended the season as one of the most aggressive duelists in the league with a 0.457 (fk+fd) per round, the highest first kill involvement in the league.
  4. clear suggested by nutab1e and Blanc_cataloq

    • A very tough season for clear as he started as a duelist/viper and was pushed towards the pure-flex role.
    • Despite the season being rough for Disguised, learning and experiencing at a higher level will always be a success.

Apeks deservedly the winners of polaris, they have been the best team for the entire season.

Fokus showing some promising stuff especially on the first 3 maps, they definitely have a good chance in the play-ins.

Ascension is going to be interesting.

posted about 2 years ago

Yeah he looks good, hopefully Oxen qualify.
He's putting up good numbers as a smokes player.

Also for Latam N there's wetyy(16yo), a Venezuelan duelist player who has a chance to qualify with 505.

The leviatan academy is really promising, they have been demolishing this event 4-0 in groups.
I thought i would only include one this time.

It's going to be interesting to see where those players go in the future.

Cheers.
hopefully the predictions will be as good as last years.

With the 2023 Challengers league shortly coming to a close, with the ascension tournament on the horizon.
I thought it would be a good time to highlight some players that could burst onto the t2 scene in 2024.

Americas:

North America: Bones
Bones is a 15yr old free agent residing in north america, he has had decent success individually in the t3 scene.
A few tournament wins including a knights monthly march, whilst dropping a 1.22 rating in the playoffs.
Agent wise he has shown to be very flexible though he looks best suited to a flash initiator/raze role
1v3 clutch in a knights monthly quarters finals match

North America: mehzy
Mehzy is another one to look out for, with multiple deep runs in t3 events under his belt.
Most recently he had a great showing with the rubberduckies, winning the Knights Monthly Gauntlet 2023: January, with a 1.31 rating in the grand final and a 1.15 rating in the playoffs as a whole the highest rating on his team.

Latam: Neon
A hugely talented youngster currently applying his trade for Leviatán Academy.
Liquipedia shows a more accurate depiction of his success: Neon liquipedia page
A few highlights to show his skills via twitter clips.

Brazil: Sato
Another jett superstar in the making. Sato has made multiple deep runs in t3 Brazilian tournaments including the recent Liga Gamers Club - Série A: 2023.
During this tournament Sato dropped a 1.21 rating in the final stage of the event.
A 4k clip with a nice thumbs up at the end

Also feel free to leave down any suggestions for other regions or other players aswell.

Rest in peace.
One of the pillars of polaris and danish valorant.
Their new/current roster had alot of potential, its a shame how things ended.
Best of luck to the players/staff in their future endeavours, hopefully onto greener pastures.

alright cya guys

if c9 win the next round with pistols again.
im quitting til tokyo

i mean its more of an opinionated point.
but the top teams do have players dedicated to each role, with 1 player that normally fills in the cracks.
alot of the "role swaps" hardly affect the way they play the game in terms of positioning and decisions.
i mean it seems to be working well rn, long term i still think its not as optimal.

it feels like potter has cooked up these crazy site hits.
but if they dont work... eg just look lost.

youve actually made a thread for each round c9 won

i dont think they actually care

good scrim for eg.

posted about 2 years ago

nt runi clutched

posted about 2 years ago

i think his best role would be as an initiator.
being a duelist player while not being able to play jett is trolling.
also switching roles between maps isnt good either (especially when sentinel and duelist play very different)

posted about 2 years ago

how can you judge runis igling on 7 rounds.

posted about 2 years ago

eg are actually well drilled.
potter has clear plans.
however they dont have that "star power" the other franchising teams have.

posted about 2 years ago

hes such a "Luxury player", cant play any of the main roles properly.
mechanically wise hes pretty decent but you have to play around him

edit: my worse take.
I would like to apologise to zellsis-nation for being so wrong.
he's shown why he deserved to be in franchising based on ingame performance and how he's helped the team off the server.
best of luck in lcq.

wouldnt work on ascent

anything is possible.
but its highly unlikely.
nrg lev are still so much better than mibr

posted about 2 years ago

because mibr arent punishing him. they arent trying to prevent loud taking the space or even try to reclaim space.
they are just letting loud gain map control for free

posted about 2 years ago

right now 100%.

posted about 2 years ago

nah its a good nerf.
it makes the ability more consistent with other mollies.
same as brim/kj/kayo etc..

posted about 2 years ago

yes its a good change it was too op.
though on the current emea vct patch its still breaks it

heres the vod for sh1n breaking SouhcNi's lockdown: https://www.youtube.com/live/AmpEXhtbwIQ?feature=share&t=21562
its in turkish (i couldnt find the eng yt vod)

posted about 2 years ago

shao and sh1n played it pretty well.
ange1... if i speak

posted about 2 years ago

yeah. in particular on icebox versus bbl.
gekko countered the kj really well.
mosh can break lockdown. (sh1n did that)
wingman can also nullify the molly value.

posted about 2 years ago

saadhak actually using it well.

ange1 playing it was painful.
he never picked up any util... he was pretty much just playing csgo
