I would love PRX to get involved aswell.
Although I would hope they could make a team that matches their "w gaming" philosophy.

LK 99 being a real super conductor that could work at suitable temps/pressure would be a massive breakthrough.

Though I am skeptical due to it not being too complex to reproduce.

Didn't kru lose onur to Leviatan in the off season before losing keznit and mazino

It also might be worth to talk about the introduction of Atom as the new Kru Headcoach and the reintroduction of Keznit, both as mid season pickups.

Offseason posts weren't as bad as they are now.

That one post where the guy triangulated nAts' ping to find out he was in the Netherlands (Liquid's headquarters) was so funny.

Everyone is toxic when they are winning.
It's just the case EMEA has won the last few.

I guess they could get an analyst/ another assistant but its unlikely they would get a high profile name like engh to fill this position.

They have drew?
i mean more the merrier but you are making it sound like drew doesnt exist.

The only people trying to debate this is are americans.

There is no debate.

Mako is the best controller and has been for a while.

Yes, I do dislike franchising.

Although the way riot has set it up does allow t2 to thrive if giving the resources.

Sadly, it seems that riot has focused on building the scene from the top-down instead of building from the ground-up.

posted about 2 years ago

It's the straw that broke the camel's back.

There was a growing annoyance about the t2 scene, people realising how devastating the off season would be.
Some changes are coming, i believe we will get another split + some more things (hopefully).

Leo said some things that were unnecessary and didn't help to calm any of the concerns.

Because vlr/valorant has a lot more asian users.
hltv and csgo is quite euro-centric.

imo i dont mind the shanghai major. I would like every game be competitive globally.

posted about 2 years ago

There was rumours that the second proposed 2023 csgo major was going to be shanghai but then due to some complications it was going to be Singapore.
Which then got eventually cancelled due to cs2

Loud - Tuyz
This guy is over hated. Pretty good utility usage especially his harbor.
Doesn't have the firepower that pancada had but he plays a tidy game and plays his role well.

if all the valorant events didnt have the visa/travel issues.

EMEA at reykjavik 2022
something at tokyo
bren esports at berlin 2021
wippie at reykjavik 2021
etc...

nvm just actually read the post.
that roster is fried.

posted about 2 years ago

I agree.
It doesn't feel like Champions is as standout or prestigious as a csgo major or a LoL worlds.

It's hard to improve the champions allure without reducing the interest of masters significantly.
I guess something simple like some ingame memorabilia for the champs winner could help?

Or some slight change in format / expansion of the event.

posted about 2 years ago

Any International event thats part of the VCT circuit is a major event.

I kinda dont like the term "major" event.

I think it would be easier if we called Champions event -> Champs
and masters/lockin -> Master events.

posted about 2 years ago

Imo this fnatic team is currently the best team to play valorant.
Though this may be beaten in the future.

Winning champs would cement this in the history book forever.

If loud wins it makes loud the greatest org (which they already kinda are)

posted about 2 years ago

v1 looks a cut above the rest.
The only way I don't see v1 winning champs is if the cloud9 gene activates and mel/alexis choke.

you cant be calling other people bandwagoners.

zekken is 18
leaf is 19

also fns is 31

posted about 2 years ago

Thinking about it more you could compare leaf and victor.
Both have familiarity playing entry roles. Both can play kj well.

Though Victor's raze is better imo.

I'm not sure i could ever see this move materialising due to victors good history with fns/crashies.
It also might be just a sideways step depending on the meta.

posted about 2 years ago

I'm not sold on his oping. It's not something we see him do as much as ardiis/aspas/cryo.

Could be a problem if a chamber meta re-emerges

a huge success.
some big wins versus xset and flyquest.
Creating a roster mid way through the season and already guaranteed a top 3 placement in their first VCT gc event.

Big props to chrisyong for building the roster.

Only drawback (not to get ahead of myself) is that it would be hard to make champs.
NA only has 2 slots and dsg gc would have missed out on a third of the events.

I think the fnatic game could actually be interesting.
Fnatic lotus pick could struggle to Zeta's chamber.
Lack of flashes would allow laz to have free reign.

Though any other map veto fnatic should be fine.

posted about 2 years ago

Zeta is too high.
I can see them struggling due to a lop-sided map pool.

posted about 2 years ago

It's an entertainment show first and for most.
If they don't make these outlandish takes it's not as enjoyable.

Some of the takes tackle the point at a different angle and actually have some thought behind them.

Sean's loud take for example.
There have been many instances of teams completely booming before a big event -> winning said event -> disbanding.
A big example is the London Spitfire in the inaugural overwatch league season or even Loud in 2022.

How would you rank fnatic's players in terms of how replaceable they are?

Demon1/s0m was the pick I was debating for a while.

Demon1 coming into the team was huge, it elevated the whole team.
Though part of me felt that his tokyo performance was a bit quiet compared to what he was doing in the Americas (which might be unfair because the level he was playing at during the americas was astronomical)

I had s0m taking it based on lock//in and s0m being slightly more influential individually for his team during tokyo.

I think Champions Los Angeles will help paint a clearer picture, with it being so close.

posted about 2 years ago

Cauanzin would've been on the list but he had played at VCT masters reykjavik in 2022.

It does feel weird having s0m as a rookie but I think the criteria I used was a good way to narrow down the competition.

VCT 2024 will be alot easier as a rookie would be the players first year in the VCT league.

posted about 2 years ago

The term rookie is hard to define for the inaugural VCT season.
For clarity sake, I will be defining a rookie as "Someone who had yet to appear at a VCT international event prior to franchising".

Pacific: Something
The catalyst for the re-emergence of Paper Rex.
Picked up from Japan during the Mid season transfer window and has transformed paper rex into a title contender.
The highest rated player in the Pacific regular season.

Honourable mentions:

  • Invy: A player that has breathed life into this aging team secret roster, almost helping them to qualify to Champions.
  • garnetS: A player who had a brilliant lock//in though had a quiet rest of the season.

Americas: s0m
A player many people doubted coming into the season, boy were they wrong.
s0m has cemented himself as the best controller in americas and has successfully qualified for his first two lan events.

Honourable mentions:

  • Demon1: This is a true rookie to hero story. A player who came from t3 who came in with instant impact and helped propel EG onto this miracle run.
  • DaveeyS: The first player from Latin America North in VCT. An important piece of the kru puzzle which shocked the world to qualify to champions through the Americas LCQ.

EMEA: qw1
FUT came into the season flying under everyone's radar, yet they still managed to qualify for Masters Tokyo.
An exciting player to watch and a pivotal part of the FUT machine.

Honourable mentions:

  • Fit1nho: A player who had a quiet start to the season but came into the LCQ with a bang with a 1.31 rating.
  • Cloud: The second Giants player on this list. He has emerged as a top initiator player in emea.

----------------
Are there any players you think have been snubbed?
What would you change?

posted about 2 years ago

There are some good players in there.
As much as I hate faze it's always sad to see an org drop their roster.

It feels like this might be faze's exit from valorant.
The rumours of an acquisition and the current scheduling issues.. it does make sense.
