Champs has never been won by a favorite going into the tournament. 21 Gambit were favorites but lost to Acend, 22 Optic/FPX/PRX were favorites but all lost to LOUD(you could say these guys were also favorites but they had just bombed out of the previous international), only in 23 did a "favorite" win in EG and even then FNC and PRX were more favored over EG.

Because they are trying to increase the importance of being good earlier in the year lol, thats my point. Riot isnt trying to push Champs as the most important tournament, it already is, they are trying to push masters as being important as well. My argument was about that, not about whether MIBR should or should not be at champs through the way they got there.

Champs is better, its the last major t1 event of the year, it has the most teams, and it has the most prize money. but the idea that riot pushes that it is "so much better" does not make sense, its the end of the season, meaning that the standings at that point are most reflective of the standings for the next event. Riot doesnt have to push anything, because by default, Champs is a bigger tournament.

The reason they reward Ascension teams based on Champs is because Champs is the end of the season, so ofc they are going to use the end placement of the ascension teams to judge whether they should compete in ascension or stay in VCT

If you watch most eastern teams you would know this take is mid. Boom literally went from being called the worst team in their region to being 5-0 in a group with GenG PRX and DRX. RRQ went from being a mid tier team gate kept by GenG to being first seed in their group after picking up crazyguy. WOL and BLG have had a good rivalry with nephh and Juicy as well as how many times the teams have played each other in the last year. even Americas has the Verno storyline, C9 looking the best they ever have, and MIBR, SEN, 100T, KRU all having rivalries with eachother.
